𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐘 𝟔𝟏𝐈𝐁 𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐂𝐏𝐏-𝐍𝐏𝐀 𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐓 𝐋𝐄𝐎𝐍, 𝐈𝐋𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐎
Camp Monteclaro, Miagao, Iloilo – The Philippine Army’s 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion encountered more or less seven (7) CPP-NPA Terrorists (C**s) believed to be members of Sibat (SYP) Platoon, Southern Front, KR-Panay at Barangay Carara-an, Leon, Iloilo on June 5, 2023 (Monday).
After receiving reports from local residents on the presence of armed groups planning to conduct extortion activities on the area, the troops of 61IB conducted combat operation and encountered the members of Sibat (SYP) Platoon believed to be under JENNEL TACAISAN, Alyas Rico.
Recovered in the encounter were the following: One (1) cal. 45 pistol, Four (4) backpacks, Forty eight (48) rds of Cal. 5.56mm ball for M16A1, Five (5) rds Cal. 45 ball, one (1) detonator of anti-personnel mine, one (1) electrical wire, one (1) medicine kit and three (3) hammocks. There was no casualty on the government side and still undetermined on the enemy’s side.
In his statement, Lieutenant Colonel Harold E Garcia, the Commanding officer of the 61IB expressed that, “The encounter is the result of our persistent efforts and continues focus military operations to find and deter this CPP-NPA Terrorist from creating chaos and harm in our community.
We will not stop to hunt the enemy down. But still, we appeal to the remaining C**s members to lay down your arms and return to the folds of the law. The gates of the 61IB is open to those who wants to surrender and to live a normal life”, LTC Garcia stressed.
