𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
by Maisy Magill
This is my third time reading Maisy Magill's books about Moonshine Hollow and its lovely inhabitants, and as it happened with the first two books, I am once again so smitten with this one. I was utterly captivated by the various focus points of this story: the magical library, the bookwyrms that call it home, its ancient but gorgeous gargoyle librarian, and the charming, sweet, and totally feisty party planner that would eventually win the grumpy gargoyle's stony heart.
Reading Maisy's stories on Moonshine Hollow and the way she builds up this world in your mind can make you lose yourself in it. All the characters - both the main ones and all other supporting cast members - are fascinating to read about given their physical appearances, their unique personalities, and their magical abilities. Plus, the romance told of the main characters is always top-notch, with each book telling a uniquely engaging story of the emerging love between the couple.
In this book, I loved how it was about how one feisty half-elf with her sparkling, bubbly personality was able to coax a recluse and grumpy gargoyle out of his self-imposed centuries-old isolation. It had been her transparency and honesty about her feelings for him - in spite of his repeated denial of their connection - that eventually made him realize that his fear of opening up himself and his heart to other people would not lead to rebuke. To me, it seems the message was clear: it takes the love of the right woman to make a man want not just to be different, but be a better version of himself that he never previously thought he could be.
