On June 12, 1898, General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed Philippine independence at Kawit, Cavite, bringing an end to Spain’s 333 years of colonial rule in the country.
From 1946 to 1962, Independence Day was celebrated during the 4th of July. That is until in the year 1962, when President Diosdado Macapagal officially moved the date to June 12 to honor the 1898’s declaration.
Today, the Philippines commemorates the 127th anniversary of its liberation. Bringing prestige honor to the lives sacrificed, the blood shed, and the unwavering loyalty of those who stood for their nation. To them, we offer our greatest respect. Their sacrifices granted us the freedom that our ancestors were once denied, but bravely fought to claim. In endless ways, they made it possible for the country to break free from the grip of colonizers, even at the cost of their own lives.
A historic moment that represents the courage, perseverance, and unity of the Filipino people. All over the country, celebrations are held that recalls the triumph and struggle of our people, bound together by patriotism.
The celebration of Independence Day is not merely about remembering a victory, it is about renewing our commitment to the ideals of those before us fought for: 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎, 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆, and 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚.
In honoring their legacy, we also shape our own future. One where each of us carries the same courage and pride that once ignited the flame of revolution.
