đź“–Gospel Reading: Luke 7:11-17

Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd accompanied him. Near the gate of the town, there was a funeral procession: a dead man, the only son of his mother, who was a widow. A large crowd was with her. When Jesus saw her, He was moved with compassion and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you: rise!” The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us,” and “God has visited his people.”

🌼Reflection / Meaning
• Compassion in action. Jesus doesn’t just feel sorry; He acts. He goes to the widow, touches the coffin, speaks life — He restores. Even when all seems beyond hope, His compassion brings renewal.
• Hope for the widow. She had lost her only son; socially and emotionally she was in deep pain, perhaps without support. Jesus honours her pain and restores what was lost. This shows God’s care especially to those marginalized, grieving, or in despair.
• The power over death. This is a foreshadowing of the ultimate power Jesus has — to bring life out of death. It reminds us that in Him there is resurrection, transformation, and new beginnings — even when all seems lost.
• Faith that bears witness. The people who witnessed this miracle were filled with awe, and their response was praise and belief: “a prophet has arisen… God has visited His people.” True encounters with Jesus move us beyond curiosity to worship and mission.

📖 Gospel (Matthew 22:1–14)
Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and elders of the people in parables, saying:
“The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son…”
(Parable of the Wedding Feast – where many invited guests refuse, and others from the streets are brought in, but one without a wedding garment is cast out.)

🙏 Reflection:
God’s kingdom is like a feast — abundant, joyful, and open to all. Yet, many reject the invitation because they are distracted or uninterested. The king’s persistence shows God’s mercy: His invitation extends to everyone, without distinction.

But responding to the invitation requires preparation. The “wedding garment” represents a heart ready for God — clothed in faith, love, humility, and good works. It reminds us that being called is not enough; we must also live in a way that reflects God’s grace.

✨ Takeaway for Today:
God constantly invites us to share in His life. Let us not ignore His call, but accept it with readiness, living each day as people dressed in the “garment” of faith and love.

Jesus,

Lamb of God, On this solemn day, we remember Your death. We grieve the pain, yet rejoice in the love it poured out.

Thank You for staying on the cross when You could have come down. Teach me to live a life worthy of Your sacrifice.

Amen.

He died not for His own sins
He had none but for mine.
Thank You, Jesus,
for the cross that set me free.

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
