𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 | CONDEMNING THE VIOLENT REPRESSION AND CORRUPTION UNDER MARCOS JR. REGIME
We, ORA et LABORA, strongly and unequivocally condemn the regime of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the looming and persistent cases of corruption and human rights violations under his supervision. As the highest official of the land, the President bears the constitutional duty to serve and protect the Filipino people. Yet, instead of safeguarding the nation’s welfare, his administration has been marked by scandals, abuse, and gross negligence that betray public trust.
At the center of this crisis is the National Expenditure Program (NEP), the very blueprint of government spending, which was signed under Marcos Jr.’s Authority. Every misuse of public funds, every questionable allocation, and every act of plunder involving the people’s money falls under his direct supervision and accountability. The deficit was the lifeblood of our nation’s capacity to uplift the marginalized sectors and provide essential services. To see it weaponized for corruption is not only a political crime but a humanitarian crime.
Equally alarming are the human rights violations and anti-people projects that have persisted throughout the year under the Marcos Jr. regime. Across Cavite, communities, workers, farmers, and students have faced harassment, red-tagging, and land dispossession—exposing a systemic campaign to repress dissent and prioritize profit over people’s welfare.
In the youth sector, repression is unrelenting. Members of Anakbayan–Cavite reported being harassed by armed police while on their way to a mobilization, their IDs and placards forcibly inspected at dawn. Within campuses, organizations have sounded the alarm against red-tagging seminars by the National Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) at St. Dominic College of Asia, where youth are branded as insurgents instead of being allowed to organize freely and exercise academic freedom.
In Talaba, Bacoor, the struggle takes another form. Bagong Alyansang Makabayan Cavite (BAYAN) and residents have mounted protests against reclamation projects and sea-dredging that not only displace communities but also intensify flooding, risk liquefaction, and destroy coastal ecosystems. These projects are mirrors of the so-called ghost flood control programs that reek of corruption and inefficiency, turning supposed disaster mitigation into yet another hazard that endangers lives.
Amid yearly cases of flooding-related deaths and destruction of property, these officials continue to feed their own agendas with no compassion or remorse for the people they vowed to serve and protect. While they afford a comfortable lifestyle funded by the people’s taxes, the people themselves struggle to meet basic needs such as food, clean water, and even a safe living environment.
We call on every Filipino—students, workers, farmers, professionals, and ordinary citizens—to recognize that these injustices are not isolated incidents but symptoms of a deeper rot in governance. We stand with the Filipino people in denouncing these crimes, demanding justice and accountability for the billions of squandered funds and the millions of Filipino people affected by greedy and self-serving officials.
Enough is enough.
Corruption has no place in a government that claims to serve. Repression has no place in a society that values democracy and justice. President Marcos Jr. must be held accountable, for under his administration, the Filipino people continue to suffer from the very crimes he swore to end.
