LOUD START | Students from different colleges and organizations held First Day Rage and Red Shirt Day Commemoration on the first day of classes to highlight their calls against commercialization of education and budget cuts in the university, Laya’t Diwa, Sept. 2.

Students wore red shirts to commemorate the previous mobilization back in 2013 against budget cuts. They highlighted various calls such as “Reject Neoliberal Education” and “Fund Facilities Now” as they held different cultural performances such as singing and spoken poetry.

Based on the National Expenditure Program (NEP) 2026 of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the university will face a ₱106 million budget cut in the next fiscal year.
