Ambassador Lee Chul had a meeting with the IFRC delegation and had a discussion on IFRC's humanitarian efforts in the context of ASEAN on July 8th. The IFRC shared their ongoing efforts in the region, including their partnership with the ASEAN Secretariat and the AHA Centre, response and recovery operations for the cyclone in Sumatra, and proactive drought preparedness in response to El Niño warnings. Highlighting that humanitarian assistance remains a key component of the newly elevated Korea-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Ambassador Lee welcomed these efforts and encouraged the IFRC to maintain close communication with the Mission.

주아세안대표부 이철대사는 7.8(수) IFRC 대표단과 면담을 갖고 아세안 역내지역에서의 인도주의적 활동에 대해서 논의했습니다. IFRC 측은 아세안 사무국 및 AHA센터와의 파트너십을 비롯해 인도네시아 수마트라 사이클론 피해 복구 지원, 엘니뇨 가뭄 경보에 따른 선제적 대응 등 아세안 지역 내 주요 활동 현황을 공유했습니다. 이 대사는 IFRC의 이런 노력을 높이 평가하였고, 한-아세안 관계가 포괄적 전략적 동반자 관계(CSP)로 격상된 상황에서 인도주의적 지원은 매우 중요한 요소임을 강조하면서, 앞으로도 대표부와 긴밀히 소통해 줄 것을 당부했습니다.

Ambassador LEE Chul participated in the Second EAS Group Meeting and Retreat in Bandung on 9 July, engaging with fellow EAS Ambassadors in candid and open discussion on the role of the EAS and key regional and international developments.The following day, he took part in a roundtable discussion and scenario exercise on implementing the EAS Leaders' Statement on Promoting Localisation in Anticipatory Action for Disaster Preparedness and Response.

이철 주아세안대사는 7월 9일 인도네시아 반둥에서 개최된 제2차 EAS 대사회의 및 리트리트에 참석하여 EAS의 역할, 핵심 지역 및 국제 정세 등에 의견을 교환하였습니다. 이 대사는 다음날 개최된 재난 대비 라운드테이블 논의 및 시나리오 훈련에도 참석하였습니다.

Ambassador LEE Chul of the Mission of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN met with H.E. Cristina Gonzalez, Ambassador of Uruguay to ASEAN (based in Indonesia and the Philippines), on July 13. The meeting was held at the request of Ambassador Gonzalez, who sought the Republic of Korea's support for Uruguay's application to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The two ambassadors also exchanged views on a range of ASEAN-related issues and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN.

주아세안대표부 이철 대사는 7월 13일 크리스티나 곤잘레스(Cristina Gonzalez) 주인도네시아 우루과이 대사(아세안, 필리핀 겸임)와 면담을 하였습니다. 이 만남은 우루과이 대사의 요청에 따라 이루어진 것으로 크리스티나 대사는 우루과이가 RCEP(역내포괄적 경제동반자협정) 가입을 신청한 것에 대한 한국의 지지를 요청하였습니다. 또한 두 대사는 한-아세안 협력 관계 등 아세안 관련 이슈에 대해서도 의견을 나누었습니다.
