The Insurance Commission (IC) is proposing to increase premium rates for motor vehicle insurance while also expanding the maximum coverage for policyholders.

A draft circular dated June 27, intended for review by non-life insurance companies, proposed an increase in certain basic premium rates for both one-year and three-year coverages, with some rates remaining unchanged since 2006.

WATCH: The 2025 AAP Rally of Lubang is set to make history as the first inter-island round of the Philippine National Rally Championship (PNRC), organized by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP). Scheduled for June 27 and 28, the rally will take place on Lubang Island in Occidental Mindoro, featuring a fully tarmac route spread across 12 special stages and a total competitive distance of 110 kilometers.

Seventeen teams are confirmed to compete in the two-day event. The opening leg on Friday night runs six special stages covering 61 kilometers, with 37 kilometers of timed sections. The competition resumes on Saturday with another six stages over 55 kilometers, 35 of which are timed.

The event was officially flagged off during the Motorsport Carnivale held at Okada Manila on June 21. With its unique setting, technical asphalt stages, and strong field of entries, the Rally of Lubang marks a new chapter for national rallying in the Philippines.

After a week of staggered price hikes at the gas pumps, fuel prices are expected to ease by the first week of July.

Based on the four-day trading Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS), gasoline is expected to go down by ₱1 to ₱1.40 per liter, while diesel may see a rollback of around ₱1.60 to ₱2.10 per liter. Kerosene is also projected to drop by ₱2 to ₱2.20 per liter.

The Philippines’ fuel ethanol consumption is projected to grow by as much as five percent this year, as the steady growth of car sales and the government’s large-scale infrastructure projects drive high demand beyond conventional fuel sources, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

In its “Biofuels Annual” report, the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) estimated that ethanol consumption will reach 840 million liters this year, up from 797 million liters in 2024.

Formula One is one of the most celebrated sports in the world. It’s no wonder, as it is stylish, it is loud, and more than anything else, it is fast, speaking directly to many of our primal human instincts.

And so it may seem like a no-brainer to put up a movie set in that world, with its enormous, worldwide, and fanatical audience. I have no doubt that making a sizable profit was a strong motivation during production, but this film is more than that; there was undeniably a lot of respect for the sport itself and the people who participate in it.
