We continue to monitor the current round of heavy rainfall.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) of the Philippines reported on the 24th that affected by typhoons "Wipha", "Francisco", "Co-may" and the southwest monsoon, continuous heavy rains have occurred in many parts of the country, triggering disasters such as floods, mudslides and landslides. So far, 12 people have been killed, 8 injured and 8 missing, with the affected population exceeding 2.73 million.
The NDRRMC stated that as of 6 a.m. that day, 65 provinces in 17 regions across the country had been affected, and more than 240,000 people had been displaced. Among them, the Central Luzon region was the worst-hit, with the number of affected people exceeding 1.54 million. Currently, 40 towns and cities across the Philippines have declared a state of calamity due to severe disasters.
In addition, the extreme weather has affected 16,359 hectares of farmland nationwide, with 2,431 houses and 188 infrastructure facilities damaged to varying degrees. The agricultural and infrastructure losses amounted to 4.418 billion pesos (approximately 78.02 million U.S. dollars).
The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines issued an announcement on the same day, stating that the Philippines has entered a season with frequent typhoons, and reminded Chinese nationals in the country to take safety precautions to ensure the safety of their lives and property.
