🚨 URGENT SAFETY ADVISORY | FLOODING IN CITY OF MANILA
📍 As of 2:25 PM | August 17, 2026

TO ALL BROTHER COLLEGE KNIGHTS CURRENTLY IN THE CITY OF MANILA:

⚠️ PLEASE BE ADVISED AND STAY ALERT.

The City of Manila is currently experiencing torrential rainfall and flooding in several areas. The Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department has issued a localized RAINfall ADVISORY, and current reports indicate significant flooding in parts of the city.

📍 Among the areas currently showing flooding include:
• Quirino Avenue – Southbound
• Padre Faura toward Intersection 2
• Other low-lying areas and major roads in Manila

The situation may worsen rapidly while heavy rains continue, and road conditions may change without notice.

🛑 BROTHER KNIGHTS, PLEASE PRIORITIZE YOUR SAFETY:
✅ If you are presently in a safe location, STAY THERE and avoid unnecessary travel.
✅ If you are on the road, proceed to the nearest safe and elevated location rather than attempting to cross deep floodwaters.
✅ Avoid flooded roads, underpasses, waterways, and areas with strong water currents.
✅ Do NOT attempt to drive or walk through floodwaters of unknown depth.
✅ Secure your mobile phone and keep your communication lines open.
✅ If you are stranded or in danger, immediately inform your family and fellow Knights and seek assistance from local authorities/emergency responders.
✅ Check on your fellow College Knights, particularly those who may be travelling, commuting, or stranded in Manila.

Remember: No meeting, activity, appointment, or obligation is more important than your safety.

The Knights of Columbus is witnessing something remarkable.

As shared by Supreme Knight Patrick E. Kelly in his 2026 Annual Report, the fastest-growing group of Knights is men under 35, with more than 37,000 College Knights serving in 320 college councils worldwide 🌐

But these numbers represent far more than growth. They represent young men choosing faith over indifference, service over self-interest, and brotherhood over isolation.

To all those who have recently and continuously answered the call and joined the ranks of College Knighthood: CONGRATULATIONS! Your decision is not merely about becoming a member of the world's biggest Catholic Gentlemen Brotherhood organization the Order of the Knights of Columbus. It is a commitment to become a man of faith, character, service, and leadership, wherever life may take you.

And to every college student who is still considering whether to join, remember this:
You are not too young to lead.
You are not too young to serve.
You are not too young to make a difference.

The Knights of Columbus needs more young men who are willing to stand for something greater than themselves.

THE FUTURE OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS IS ON OUR CAMPUSES

At the 144th Supreme Convention in Denver, Colorado, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly delivered a clear and inspiring message: College Knights are not merely the future of the Order - they are already shaping its present.

Today, the Knights of Columbus proudly counts:
✅ Over 37,000 College Knights
✅ 320 College Councils worldwide
✅ Young men under 35 as the fastest-growing segment of our Order.

Supreme Knight Kelly reminded us that Blessed Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus not only to strengthen husbands and fathers, but also to form young men before they embrace those vocations. In a world where faith is increasingly challenged, College Councils stand as a courageous witness to Christ on university campuses.

He described College Knights as "a sign of contradiction on campus" - young Catholic men who boldly live their faith, serve their communities, defend the dignity of every person, and lead with charity, unity, and fraternity.

The inspiring examples shared during the Convention, from College Knights making pilgrimages to Rome to cadets and midshipmen publicly praying the Rosary - demonstrate that young Catholics are not retreating from their faith. They are embracing it with conviction and inviting others to do the same.

This message resonates deeply with us in KofC College Council District M-57. Our mission to strengthen College Councils, develop Catholic student leaders, promote evangelization, and expand our presence in colleges and universities is fully aligned with the vision of the Supreme Council.

Together, let us continue building vibrant College Councils where young men grow in faith, leadership, brotherhood, and service - forming the next generation of Catholic leaders for our Church, our communities, and our nation.
