OFFICIAL STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO ZAMPEN NEWS ONLINE POST DATED JUNE 1, 2025
This is to shed light on the Facebook post published by “Zampen News Online” on June 1, 2025, entitled “Sunog sa Titay, wala marespundihe sa Titay BFP?” which expresses frustration and raises questions regarding the capability and readiness of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Titay Municipal Fire Station (MFS).
We would like to clarify and present the accurate details of the incident in question.
At approximately 9:55 PM (2155H) on May 31, 2025, our office received a fire call reporting an ongoing fire at Purok Sampanguita, Sitio Matigdao, Barangay Dalangin, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Upon receipt of the call, the Titay MFS immediately relayed the information to the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal (OPFM) and requested immediate assistance from neighboring stations, as both fire trucks of the Titay MFS were unserviceable at the time.
Specifically:
• The Isuzu Anos fire truck has been under general repair since May 2, 2025, and remains inoperable as of this date.
• The Isuzu tanker became unserviceable on May 25, 2025, due to a defective hydrovac and is currently undergoing repair by a private mechanic.
Despite the lack of a functioning fire engine, the statement in the post claiming “wala marespundihe” is inaccurate. Personnel from the Titay MFS were, in fact, the first to respond to the fire scene, utilizing the station’s issued ambulance. They conducted the initial fire assessment and scene size-up, while other personnel proceeded to strategic crossing points to guide incoming fire trucks from Ipil, Naga, and R.T. Lim.
Regarding the station’s capability, we acknowledge the temporary limitations in fire suppression due to the mechanical issues affecting our aging fire trucks. Nonetheless, the dedication and commitment of the Titay MFS personnel have never wavered. Even in the face of these challenges, the team continues to deliver the best possible service to the people of Titay.
Rest assured, the Titay MFS remains steadfast in fulfilling the Bureau’s mandate — To Save Lives and Properties — regardless of the circumstances.
We appreciate the concern raised and continue to seek the support and understanding of the community as we work to improve our service capabilities.
