Palace Press Office spokesperson Atty. Claire Castro dismissed claims that First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos was involved in the circumstances surrounding the death of Paolo Tantoco during a press briefing Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Tantoco passed away in the US last March, but the cause of death was only released this month.

Castro also clarified that Tantoco was not part of the First Lady’s entourage during the Manila International Film Festival promotional tour. | via SunStar Cebu

A man was killed after being shot by a lone gunman around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Sitio Bugnay 3, Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

The victim was identified as alias Jr., of legal age and a resident of Sitio Bugnay 1, Barangay Labangon.

According to the investigation by the Labangon Police Station, the victim was standing by the roadside when an unidentified man wearing a black jacket and a helmet suddenly approached and shot him.

The assailant immediately fled the scene, while the victim was rushed to a Cebu City hospital but was declared dead on arrival. | via AYB
