โโ In the midst of emerging technologies that bridge the gaps between the academe and the industry, Engr. Hamzer โ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ปโ Adrias Tacbil is among the heroes who cultivates competence in his students. An emerging instructor from a 6-year-old course offered by the College of Engineering, the Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sir Hamz carries a commitment to produce high-caliber learners, equipped in both knowledge and skills, and ready to face the real-world endeavor as future ECEs.
Engr. Tacbil or โ๐ด๐ช๐ณ ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ป,โ born and raised in the municipality of Palimbang, earned his degree in Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE) at Mindanao State UniversityโGenSan, batch 2020, and later gained his license in 2022. Interestingly, engineering was not Sir Hamzโs first choice; he initially wanted to enroll in accountancy. It was his older sister who gently persuaded him to pursue engineering instead, believing in his potential and knowing that such path was rare not only in their municipality but even within their family. That moment of guidance became a turning point, shaping a way that would allow him to inspire others, and bring honor as the first engineer in the family.

Outside his career as a professional practitioner, Sir Hamz is also an advocate for empowering young Bangsamoros. Through leadership and education, he aims to break stereotypes and prove to them (the younger generation) that they can also stand out in their communities and, most importantly, in their academics. Sir Hamzโs commitment is evident through the principles he applies in his teaching and the life that he leads. Furthermore, as a person who came from the field of electronics engineering and has experience in academia, where he has gained wisdom from his work, his advocacy immortalizes the idea that "War is not the answer; the solution starts by having a good education."
โ Meanwhile, Sir Hamz's transition from industry to teaching was the most crucial stage his career. While serving as a contractor, he explored the broad side of the industrial sector, from Cebu to CDO and other parts of Mindanao. As a key contributor to the fiber-net company, he helped provide faster connections and innovations that benefited both overseas and urban areas. He was soon caught by the influence of his mother, who was also a dedicated teacher, he once thought, โWhy not try teaching?โ Drawing from his knowledge and experience, he promised himself to show students the realities of life. As he once told them, โTo all students, the real battle begins after you graduate. We have to work this out, even with just a small amount of time.โ This lesson, drawn from his own realizations, had a profound meaning to his innate talent as an educator.
โ As an ECE educator and faculty moderator, Sir Hamzโs work ethics has remained consistent, and time or workload has never held him back. One of his goals beyond his taught course and unto the entire department is about producing graduates who are academically competent and ultimately skillful. In his own way, Sir Hamz has shown how his guidance helps the graduates to bridge gaps as he allows them to embody the valuable experiences, he gained from working in the industry. He emphasizes that, โThe strictness and the standards that we implement are for the engineering department,โ bringing his passion to produce excellent results. โ
โWhen challenges arise, Sir Hamz perseveres despite the demands of teaching, handling students, and managing administrative duties. At times, these responsibilities can become obstacles to his teaching path and consistency, not only for him but also for other faculty members at SKSU. As one of the core members of the workforce in COE, his purpose as โmoderatorsโ of the ECE program supports not only his students and extends towards the entire department. Today, handling and monitoring students has become easier, proving that collaboration strengthens the link between knowledge and responsibility. โ
Sir Hamz, keeping his promise to always optimize opportunities and push his students beyond their limits. He often talks about the word โ๐ฅ๐ช๐ด๐ฌ๐ข๐ณ๐ต๐ฆโ on his class, which he soon revealed that it is meant โto be lived out.โ Sir Hamz consistently emphasizes that engineers are far more than a โjack of all trades, master of none.โ He guides students to trust their abilities and feel secure in the paths they will choose, reminding them, โNo matter what course youโre in, what truly matters are the qualities youโve acquired and developed.โ

โ โAlways focused on readiness at its finest, Engr. Tacbil has prioritized programs that enhances learning and board exam preparation of ECE students. As the person in charge of the โEnhancement Program 1 and 2,โ with the strong support of the ECE program chairman, Engr. Alexis Gallo, they were able to produce a Top 2 ECT from the first batch of ECE's alumni during the Electronics Technician Licensure Examination last April 2025; the very first topnotcher in SKSUโIsulan campus and the College of Engineering, proving its impact on both exam performance and future readiness. Sir Hamz constantly strive to ensure that the ECE program, including those courses with board exams, will continue to adapt in the future. Their hard work paid off and is clear. He has shown that when you commit yourself wholeheartedly, success is within reach.
โ โ Beyond his achievements, Sir Hamzโs approach to teaching is truly inspiring. He strives to create an environment where students give their bestโnot only in learning but also in listening. For him, maintaining strictness does not mean being harsh; it means teaching students how to respond appropriately when interacting with authority. By enforcing time limits and setting clear expectations, he prepares students for future challenges and helps them apply what they learn to real-life situations.
โ โBehind this discipline, Sir Hamzโs sense of humor and playful nature provide balance to his class environment. He believes that, โSometimes you donโt have to follow whatโs written in the book. Focusing on just one approach,โ he says, โcan bore students.โ That is why he created a blendโa combination of methods. He connects industry with academics, humor with strictness, experience with teaching, and individual effort with unity. The result is a learning environment that is engaging, balanced, and truly inspiring. โ
โIn his class, being well-rounded is not enough to break the cycle of mediocrity. Under the guidance of Sir Hamz, every learner is challenged, carved, and polished to overcome that cycle.
โ โTo Engr. Hamzer โ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ปโ Adrias Tacbil, being well-rounded is never the finish line; it is the starting point of a breakthroughโone that transforms students into excellent learners and competent professionals prepared for the unfolding future. His ideals in bridging the gap between academe and industry prompts deep reverence for the institution as a generator of solutions, embodied in its most valuable productโthe students.
