Families Are Central to God’s Plan

Families are not an accident of mortality they are a sacred and eternal part of our Heavenly Father’s divine plan. From the beginning, God ordained that His children would come to earth within families, where love is nurtured, faith is strengthened, and eternal truths are taught. In the home, we learn to serve, forgive, sacrifice, and grow closer to Jesus Christ.

Through the restored gospel, we understand that family relationships can continue beyond this life. Sacred temple ordinances make it possible for husbands and wives, parents and children to be sealed together for eternity. As we center our homes on Christ through prayer, scripture study, and acts of kindness we invite peace and unity that withstand the challenges of the world.

In a time when the importance of the family is often questioned, we stand as witnesses that strong families build strong communities and a stronger Church. Every effort we make to love, support, and uplift our family members brings us closer to God and helps fulfill His eternal purposes.

Let us cherish our families, strengthen our homes, and strive to create environments where the Spirit can dwell. As taught in The Family: A Proclamation to the World, “the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.”

May we honor this divine truth by loving more deeply, serving more faithfully, and leading our families closer to Christ each day.

"Then the voice identified itself: “Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God” (v. 15). It was the voice of the very person who had been mocked and ridiculed and rejected by the wicked! It was the voice of Him whom the prophets proclaimed and for whom they were stoned and killed! It was the voice of the Master!

How few people in all the history of the world have heard the actual voice of God the Father speaking to them. As the people looked heavenward, “they saw a Man descending out of heaven; and he was clothed in a white robe; and he came down and stood in the midst of them” (v. 8).

A glorious, resurrected being, a member of the Godhead, the Creator of innumerable worlds, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, stood before their very eyes!"
-Ezra Taft Benson

Every calling, whatever it may be, is “His business” when embraced with a humble and willing heart and a desire to lift and comfort His children and share His good news. We are not merely filling an assignment when we respond to an inspired call but joining the Saviour of the world in His infinite, redeeming work. He needs you, and He needs me. Life is better—everything is better—when we are about His business. - Elder Patrick Kearon

Baptism is your child’s first personal covenant, but understanding begins as they see your own covenants in action.

When a child sees their parents:
- Forgive
- Serve
- Repent
- Persevere

They understand that baptism is not just entering the water, it is beginning a path with Jesus Christ.

Prophet and President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encouraged members to demonstrate the pure love of Christ in all their interactions as part of several messages delivered over this Easter and general conference weekend.

“As followers of Christ, let us follow Him by forgoing contention and by using the language and methods of peacemakers,” he said. “In our families and other personal relationships, let us avoid what is harsh and hateful. Let us seek to be holy, like our Savior.”

At the conclusion of general conference on Easter morning April 5, 2026, President Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints emphasized that belief in a literal and universal resurrection shapes how individuals live with love now and anticipate joyful reunions in the life to come. Echoing earlier teachings from President Russell M. Nelson, he called on members to follow Jesus Christ by loving others, even when that love is not returned. President Oaks urged disciples to abandon harsh and hurtful communication, stressing that peacemaking can transform relationships and society. The message reinforced unity, compassion, and Christlike conduct as central themes of the conference.
