โ Notre Dame of Jolo High SchoolโKasulutan launched a seminar-workshop on the topic of research and case study at the school's gymnasium on July 22-23 2026.The program, carrying the theme โCultivating a Culture of Research Through Case Study: Empowering NDJHS-K Grade 10 Students as Young Researchersโ aims to prepare the Grade 10 students for the future research projects by equipping them with fundamental knowledge regarding research and case study. This event also serves as the beginning of the school's official collaboration with MSU-SULU.

โProfessor Magna Anissa E. Aming Hayudini, RN, RM, LPT, MAN, MPA, DPA, PD-SML, a guest speaker from MSU, introduced the basics of research to the students. She highlighted its importance in solving real-world problems, the different types of research, its key characteristics, and the step-by-step process involved. She explained that research must be systematic, objective, and ethical to uphold honesty and responsibility in conducting studies.

โProfessor Ayesha P. Warid-Sahial, another guest speaker from MSU, discussed case study methodology with the Grade 10 students, highlighting that every case must be bounded with clear limits in time, place, participants, and process. She explained that the purpose of a case study is to gain an in-depth understanding of a specific issue. She also outlined the key characteristics of case studies, noting that they must be detailed and context-based. She further described the steps in collecting data, which include making observations, conducting interviews, and analyzing documents.

โFollowing the session, the speakers conducted a workshop that consisted of four parts, which included selecting a research topic, making research titles, formulating the Statement of the Problem, and setting research objectives. Through these activities, students gained both knowledge and practical experience in beginning their research.

โThe two-day seminar-workshop successfully equipped the participants with quality knowledge and skills, leaving the workshop feeling inspired and motivated to apply what they had learned in those sessions. The program also enhanced the students' critical thinking, cooperation, and teamwork through the workshops.
