The Notre Dame of Kabacan, Inc. (NDKI) conducted a series of faith-based activities on January 24, 2026, in line with its continuing celebration of the 70th Founding Anniversary. The activities included an Islamic Symposium, a Catholic Thanksgiving Mass, and a Values Education fellowship for students.
NDKI hosted its 3rd Islamic Symposium with the theme โWhat is Ramadan?โ to provide students with information on the significance of Ramadan in Islam. The symposium discussed Ramadan as a sacred month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. It also highlighted how fasting from dawn to sunset promotes self-discipline, patience, moral responsibility, and empathy for the less fortunate. In the absence of a guest speaker, Sir Lakman delivered a brief message encouraging students to apply the values of Ramadan in their daily lives.
The celebration also included a Catholic Thanksgiving Mass to commemorate the institutionโs 70 years of service. The homily reflected on the Wedding at Cana and focused on lessons of faith and trust, drawing connections to the experiences of students and teachers within the school community.
In addition, a Values Education fellowship was conducted for ValEd students. The activity aimed to strengthen studentsโ understanding of core values and promote reflection and interaction among participants.
The Notre Dame of Kabacan, Inc. was founded on January 24, 1956, and was initially located along the national highway in Barangay Osias, Kabacan, Cotabato, before transferring to its current site behind Christ the King Parish. The institution was founded by Bishop George Dion and Archbishop Gerard Mongeau and was later entrusted to the Oblates of Notre Dame (OND) Sisters. NDKI began by offering elementary education and later expanded to include Junior High School and Senior High School departments. Facilities such as the NDKI Pavilion, Computer Laboratory, Speech Laboratory, and Library were added to support student learning.
The 70th Founding Anniversary activities served to recognize the institutionโs history while highlighting its continued emphasis on faith formation, unity, and education.
