National Service Training Program Symposium:
Empowering Change for Sustainable Peace and Creation Care

On September 6, 2025, students from the National Service Training Program (NSTP)โ€”Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) gathered at the St. Columban Arts Center for a symposium themed "From Crisis to Care: Building Sustainable Solutions, Inspiring Action for Peace with Creation."

The purpose of the event was to bring together students from various courses to discuss and explore sustainable solutions to compelling environmental and social issues. The theme highlighted the importance of caring for the planet and promoting peace in the face of crises.

The symposium started with inspiring opening remarks from Divine Grace Balayo, College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) Representative. This was followed by two esteemed speakers who shared their expertise and insights, inspiring students to take action.
In the first topic, Dr. Mary Ann S. Dagunan, PhD, delivered an engaging discussion on "Understanding the Crises: The Importance of Environmental Conservation." She highlighted the critical need for conservation and showed students just how serious the consequences of environmental damage can be. Dr. Dagunan's expertise provided a deeper understanding of the complex challenges we face.

Next, Sem. John Philip P. Palacios presented with an energizing talk on "Inspiring Action." He emphasized the importance of translating knowledge into tangible efforts. He encouraged students to become part of the solution, and his presentation served as a call to action, motivating attendees to make a positive impact in their communities.

This program underscored the importance of integrating service and training in the development of students, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to become responsible students and leaders. By fostering a sense of community and social responsibility, the symposium sought to empower students to make a positive impact in their communities. The knowledge and inspiration gained there were the first steps toward building a future where the KCC Community contributes to sustainable solutions and a more peaceful community.

The symposium shaped up to be a transformative experience, providing KCCians with valuable insights and opportunities for personal and professional growth. By coming together to explore solutions and inspire action, this event was poised to leave a lasting impact on both the participants and the communities they serve.

First Friday Mass Calls College Community to Accountability, Renewal, and Christ-Centered Living

This morning, at exactly 8:00 AM, the St. Columban Arts Center was filled with faith and reflection as the college community gathered for the celebration of the First Friday Mass,r presided by our School President, Rev. Fr. Richard Lachica, MAED. In his homily, Fr. Lachica emphasized accountability in all our actions as one united community and encouraged everyone to welcome new beginnings, reminding us that โ€œthere is always a first timeโ€ and that true transformation comes when our hearts are open and renewed. He also highlighted the central truth that Christ is the foundation of everything: all things were created through Him and for Him, and without Him, our world becomes empty. With Christ at the center, our lives gain true meaning and purpose, guiding us toward holiness and service.

Fr. Lachica further reminded us that academic excellence without faith is incomplete. He left the community with a meaningful challenge: Will you allow yourself to make new things in your life? As a Christ-centered community, we are invited to put Christ at the heart of our studies, teaching, and relationships, for only then can we truly live out our mission of educating and serving.

Simula ng Pasko sa Setyembre: Ang Ber Months na Tradisyon ng mga Pilipino
