SIX ARRESTED IN ONE DAY SW OPERATIONS ACROSS NEGROS ISLAND REGION

Six Search Warrant operations conducted by the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region on August 18, 2026 resulted in the arrest of six individuals and the recovery of several fi****ms and ammunition for violations of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The simultaneous enforcement efforts underscore the firm and sustained commitment of PRO NIR to curb the illegal possession of fi****ms, prevent their potential use in criminal activities, and strengthen public safety across Negros Island.

At around 5:38 AM, personnel of the Sagay CCPS, NOcPPO, conducted a Search Warrant operation in Purok Kalubihan, Barangay Bulanon, Sagay City, resulting in the arrest of alias “Talang,” 47 years old, married, a construction worker, and a resident of the area. Recovered were one (1) caliber .45 C**t 1911 pistol, one (1) caliber .45 magazine, and five (5) rounds of caliber .45 ammunition.

At around 6:05 AM, personnel of the Silay CCPS, NOcPPO implemented a Search Warrant at Beranio Bodega, Barangay Lantad, Silay City, resulting in the arrest of alias “Jor,” 59 years old, single, a construction worker, and a resident of the area. Recovered were one (1) caliber .38 Smith & Wesson revolver, loaded with two (2) rounds of caliber .38 ammunition, and one (1) brown bag.

At around 6:20 AM, personnel of the Victorias CCPS, NOcPPO conducted a Search Warrant operation in Purok Nipa, Barangay 6, Victorias City, resulting in the arrest of alias “Totoy,” 24 years old, single, unemployed, and a resident of the area. The operation led to the recovery of one (1) caliber .38 revolver and three (3) rounds of caliber .38 ammunition loaded in its cylinder.

At around 11:25 AM, personnel of the Sibulan MPS, NOrPPO, together with personnel from Negros Oriental PIT and RIU NIR, implemented Search Warrant at the Airport Area, Purok 3, Barangay Bolocboloc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental. The operation resulted in the arrest of alias “Bry,” 51 years old, male, married, Filipino, and a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Bolocboloc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental. Recovered were one (1) caliber .25 Raven Phoenix Arms pistol, one (1) magazine loaded with five (5) live caliber .25 ammunition, five (5) additional live caliber .25 ammunition, and one (1) live caliber .45 ammunition.

At around 4:21 PM, personnel of La Carlota CCPS, NOcPPO, implemented Search Warrant at Bucruz Gamay, Barangay II (Poblacion), La Carlota City, Negros Occidental. The operation resulted in the arrest of alias alias “Jerome,” 20 years old, male, single, jobless, and a resident of Bucruz Gamay, Barangay II (Poblacion), La Carlota City, Negros Occidental. Recovered were one (1) caliber .38 revolver, four (4) rounds of caliber .38 ammunition, and one (1) black sling bag.

At around 10:48 PM, personnel of the San Jose MPS, NOrPPO, together with personnel of the 1st PMFC SWAT, NOrPPO, implemented Search Warrant in Barangay Naiba, San Jose, Negros Oriental. The operation resulted in the arrest of alias “Rol,” 37 years old, male, married, Filipino, and a resident of Barangay Naiba, San Jose, Negros Oriental. Recovered were one (1) caliber .38 chrome revolver with black handle, five (5) live caliber .38 ammunition, and one (1) medium-sized pouch.

All six Search Warrant operations were conducted in accordance with established rules and procedures. The arrested individuals were duly informed of the nature and cause of their arrest and apprised of their constitutional and statutory rights, including the Anti-Torture Act, in a language or dialect known to and fully understood by them. Body-Worn Cameras and Alternative Recording Device were utilized during the operations, in compliance with A.M. No. 21-06-08-SC, ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to proper police procedures.

The recovered fi****ms will be subjected to appropriate forensic and ballistic examination, while the arrested individuals remain under police custody for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.

“These successful Search Warrant operations demonstrate our determination to keep illegal fi****ms out of the hands of unauthorized individuals. Through decisive, intelligence-driven, and lawful police action, we are preventing these fi****ms from potentially being used in criminal activities and strengthening the safety of our communities. PNP ENVIRONMENTAL DRIVE IN WESTERN VISAYAS YIELDS 204 ARRESTS, ₱16.18M IN RECOVERIES

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its campaign to protect the country’s forests and marine resources, as sustained operations in Western Visayas resulted in the arrest of 204 individuals and the recovery or confiscation of environmental resources and fishing-related items valued at more than ₱16.18 million from August 1 to 15, 2026.

During the period, police units across the region conducted 187 operations against violations involving forest resources and illegal fishing. These resulted in the recovery of lumber, charcoal, fish, and various fishing-related equipment and paraphernalia.

Of the total operations, 118 targeted illegal logging, leading to 58 arrests and the recovery of lumber and charcoal valued at more than ₱384,000.00. Meanwhile, 69 operations against illegal fishing resulted in 146 arrests and the recovery or confiscation of fish and fishing-related items valued at more than ₱15.8 million.

The PNP said the continuing campaign is focused on enforcing environmental and fisheries laws while helping protect legitimate livelihoods and the natural resources that sustain communities.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the police response must remain firm but responsible.

“May mga komunidad na umaasa sa ating likas-yaman, kaya kailangan natin itong protektahan. We will continue to enforce the law firmly, but always in a fair, responsible, and respectful manner. Our goal is to protect our natural resources while also respecting the rights and livelihood of the communities we serve.”

The operations form part of the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, ensuring that police action remains responsive to actual conditions on the ground and focused on protecting communities and public resources.

The PNP continues to support the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in promoting the responsible protection and use of the country’s natural resources while strengthening public safety and the rule of law.

STREET-LEVEL INDIVIDUAL ARRESTED IN DUMAGUETE CITY BUY-BUST

A Street-Level Individual was apprehended in a swift and decisive anti-illegal drug operation at around 2:49 AM on August 19, 2026, in Purok Kanangkaan, Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, resulting in the seizure of more or less 30 grams of suspected shabu with a Standard Drug Price of PhP 204,000.00, delivering another significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the community.

Information was received by the Dumaguete CPS CDEU, NOrPPO, that alias “Jo,” 35 years old, male, single, and a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Cawitan, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental, was allegedly engaged in the delivery and distribution of illegal drugs. The police operatives conducted casing, surveillance, and validation operations to verify the information and monitor the suspect’s alleged illegal activities for possible law enforcement action. The validation efforts revealed that the suspect was allegedly delivering illegal drugs to his customers from Sta. Catalina to Dumaguete City. With the assistance of a confidential informant, a transaction was successfully facilitated, prompting the operatives to conduct a buy-bust operation. Following the consummation of the transaction, the suspect was immediately arrested.

Recovered from the suspect were the following:

1. One (1) piece medium-size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be Shabu;

2. Four (4) pieces medium-size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be Shabu;

3. One (1) piece genuine one-thousand-peso Bill placed on top of nine (9) pieces bogus money, served as Buy-Bust money;

4. One (1) piece improvised glass totter; and

5. One (1) piece sunglass case color black and green.

The seized items were properly marked, inventoried, and documented in the presence of witnesses and in accordance with established procedures. The arrested individual was duly informed of his constitutional rights and remains under the custody of Dumaguete CPS for booking, proper disposition, and the filing of appropriate charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165.

APPLIANCE COLLECTOR ARRESTED IN SAGAY CITY BUT-BUST

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region scored another significant victory in its intensified campaign against illegal drugs following the arrest of a newly identified High-Value Individual during a swift and intelligence-driven buy-bust operation at around 10:50 AM on August 19, 2026, in Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City, Negros Occidental. The operation resulted in the seizure of more or less 60 grams of suspected shabu with a Standard Drug Price of PhP 408,000.00, striking another blow against the illegal drug trade and preventing the dangerous substance from reaching the community.

The suspect was identified as alias “Babyboy,” Filipino, male, 30 years old, single, Appliance Collector and a resident of Purok Lambonao, Barangay Tadlong, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

The operation was conducted by personnel of the Sagay CCPS, NOcPPO, following information received from a confidential informant that the suspect was allegedly engaged in the distribution of illegal drugs. Casing and surveillance operations were subsequently conducted, which revealed that the suspect was allegedly sourcing suspected shabu from Bacolod City and delivering it to his customers in Sagay City. With the assistance of the confidential informant, a transaction was facilitated, prompting the police operatives to immediately conduct a buy-bust operation. The suspect was arrested after handing two (2) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu to the police poseur-buyer in exchange for the buy-bust money.

Recovered during the operation were:

1. Two (2) Heat sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance of suspected shabu (Buy-bust items);

2. One (1) knot tied transparent plastic containing white crystalline substance of suspected shabu (possession); and

3. One (1) piece One thousand Peso Bill (PhP 1,000.00) (Buy-Bust money).

The seized drug evidence was properly marked, inventoried, and documented in compliance with Section 21 of RA 9165. The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and the Anti-Torture Law, while two (2) Body-Worn Cameras were utilized during the operation. The seized drugs will be submitted to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the suspect and non-drug evidence remain under the custody of Sagay CCPS for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges under RA 9165.

“Let this arrest serve as a clear warning to those engaged in the illegal drug trade: we will find you, we will arrest you, and we will hold you accountable. PNP SEIZES ₱2.2-M WORTH OF ILLEGAL FISHING ITEMS, APPREHENDS 21 IN ONE DAY

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., intensified its enforcement of fishery laws as Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) apprehended 21 individuals in separate anti-illegal fishing operations across Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Biliran on August 16, 2026.

In Leyte, three individuals were apprehended in separate operations in the seawaters of Matalom, Isabel, and Bato. The operations resulted in the confiscation of fishing boats, spear guns, fishing nets, compressors, flashlights, and assorted illegally caught fish with a combined estimated value of ₱67,750.00.

In Southern Leyte, three individuals were apprehended in separate operations in Limasawa, Pintuyan, and Saint Bernard for violations of local fishery ordinances, including fishing without the required license and the use of unregistered boats and fishing equipment. The confiscated items had a combined estimated value of ₱14,100.00 and were placed under the custody of the concerned police stations and local authorities.

Meanwhile, in Biliran, 15 individuals were apprehended during three anti-illegal fishing operations in the territorial waters of Culaba. The operations yielded fishing boats, motor engines, fishing nets, and assorted illegally caught fish with a combined estimated value of ₱2,129,200.00, which were turned over to the appropriate authorities for proper disposition.

Overall, the one-day operations resulted in the apprehension of 21 individuals and the confiscation of fishing boats, fishing equipment, and illegally caught fish with a combined value of ₱2,211,050.00.

The operations were conducted by personnel of the concerned municipal police stations through seaborne patrols and enforcement activities, in coordination with local government units, Bantay-Dagat personnel, and municipal agriculture offices.

PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. stressed that protecting the country’s marine resources requires firm enforcement against unlawful fishing activities. “Our coastal waters are valuable public resources, and the PNP will take decisive action against those who disregard fishery laws.”

He also underscored the importance of protecting the livelihood of legitimate fisherfolk. “Pangalagaan natin ang ating karagatan dahil dito nakasalalay ang kabuhayan ng maraming mangingisda.”

The operations reflect the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, by strengthening focused enforcement against activities that threaten coastal communities and marine resources.

As the PNP strengthens the protection of the country’s marine resources under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it assures the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”
