Students and teachers of Barangay Longos Senior High School participated in an earthquake drill conducted from the classrooms to outside the school to let the learners know where to go when an earthquake occurs in Barangay Longos Senior High School, and to strengthen the learners' disaster preparedness and ensure everyone knows how to respond during emergencies.

The activity focused on practicing the proper โ€œDuck, Cover, and Holdโ€ procedure, orderly evacuation, and headcounting at designated assembly areas under the supervision of the principal and teachers.

The drill became even more important following the recent earthquake felt in parts of Mindanao, emphasizing the need to always be prepared. Principal Dr. Chaplenette S. Acueza said that the activity also helped identify areas that need improvement, particularly emergency signages and communication.

Sir Jonathan M. Pacurib was promoted from Teacher III to Teacher VI, recording his first promotion since the Senior High School implementation on June 13, 2016. Dr. Camielle A. Pizarro advanced from Teacher II to Teacher III.

They were both promoted through the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System, a Department of Education program that allows teachers to advance in their careers based on their qualifications, competencies, and performance.

Sir Pacurib and Dr. Pizarro are both pioneer teachers in BLSHS who celebrated their 10th Anniversary last June 13, along with Mrs. Gadaza, Mr. De Chavez, Dr. Yasto, and Mr. Ladiana.

BLSHS school head, faculty, and staff were all proud of this milestone and extended their heartfelt congratulations to both teachers.

Meanwhile, the next batch of teachers who applied for the ECP are waiting and hopeful for their items too.

Barangay Longos Senior High School has introduced a new protocol requiring students to submit their mobile phones before classes begin each day.

Under the policy, students will place their phones in a designated collection box provided by the Faculty Office. The box will be securely stored during class hours and returned to each section after classes, allowing students to retrieve their phones.

The school administration said the measure aims to reduce distractions, improve students' focus on lessons, and promote discipline inside the classroom.

Students are encouraged to cooperate with the new policy as part of the school's efforts to create a more focused and effective learning environment.
