Senior high school students from Saint Gabriel College High School attended the Sarรณk Short Film Festival's Film Orientation and Workshop for Students held at Ati-Atihan County Inn, July 21-22, 2025.
Representing SGCHS were Edilberto F. Mollo III, Jayronn Matt Z. Salcedo, Austin Santi G. Salomon, and Ryle Jian Niรฑo N. Leyson. They are senior high school students who also serve as photojournalists and layout artists for The Vision.
During the two-day workshop, aspiring filmmakers took part in an intensive learning session about filmmaking, covering essential skills in scriptwriting, lighting, editing, and shooting. They also explored the art of visual language and storytelling and placed emphasis on the importance of crafting authentic and place-based narratives. Participants also learned about the Film Development Council of the Philippines' national programs and initiatives from the Education Division and the JuanFlix platform.
Taking part in the session were two powerhouse directors who shared their expertise and insights on film: ๐๐ถ๐ฟ. ๐ ๐ฎ-๐ฎ๐ป ๐. ๐๐๐๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ผ๐ป-๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ปฬ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ป, an internationally awarded filmmaker of ๐๐ญ๐ถ๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฎ and Cinemalaya 2022 Best Director; and ๐๐ถ๐ฟ. ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ผ "๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฏ" ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐น๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐๐, a director passionate about regional films and culturally rooted storytelling.
After the learning session, participants engaged in creative exercises, showcasing their creativity and skills in producing their originally crafted film outputs. As part of that, SGCHS students bagged various awards in the said exercise:

As the two-day film orientation and workshop come to an end, the participants will surely value the essence of filmmaking and will use it as a platform to narrate stories to future generations.
