AT MY AGE…
They say I shouldn’t wear tight or ripped jeans anymore, because “those are for young girls.”
They say I should cut my hair because long hair “makes me look older.”
That my makeup should be subtle, and that I shouldn’t wear red lipstick because “it’s no longer appropriate.”
That I should wear light colors to look “elegant” and avoid black because it’s “too gloomy.”
Oh — and God forbid I take a selfie making a silly face… because “at my age, that’s ridiculous.”

And me? I laugh.

Because at my age, I’ve learned that life goes by in a flash, and that “what people say” doesn’t pay the bills, erase wrinkles, or make me laugh.
At my age, I do whatever I want.
If I feel like dancing alone in the living room — I dance.
If I want to wear ripped jeans — I wear them.
If I want to rock bright red lipstick on an ordinary Monday — I do.

At my age, I no longer follow silly rules made up by others to control other people’s joy.
At my age, I enjoy “being ridiculous,” because the best laughs always come from being real.
At my age, I dress for me, I smile for me, I live for me.

Because freedom doesn’t begin when you turn 18… it begins when you stop asking permission to be happy.

And at my age, being happy is the only thing that truly matters.

Did you know? Scientists say intelligence is largely inherited from the mother.

A major study from the University of Glasgow involving over 12,000 people reveals that most of our intelligence comes from our mothers, and not just because of love, but genetics too. Since many genes related to intelligence are carried on the X chromosome, and women have two of them, moms are more likely to pass on those “smart” genes.

But it doesn’t stop at DNA. The study also shows that a mom’s education, emotional support, and everyday nurturing like reading bedtime stories or helping with homework are just as critical to a child’s intellectual development.

So yes, intelligence is shaped by many thingslike nutrition, peers, and learning, but mom’s biology and presence play a huge role in building brains.

Next time someone says, “You got it from your mama,”—just smile. Because science says they’re absolutely right. 👏😉
