Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV has linked Uy to alleged illegal drug activities while questioning financial transactions involving the Duterte family. That accusation should not be treated as an established fact.

Uy’s relatives have previously rejected the allegation. In May, former Davao de Oro governor Arturo Uy and the KH Uy Family Association–Davao Chapter defended him as a legitimate businessman and denied his involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Public accountability requires both transparency and fairness. Campaign contributions deserve scrutiny, but serious accusations must be tested against reliable evidence—not treated as proof of guilt.

A story highlights the kindness of Renz Abelita, a security guard who helped children near his workplace in Pasay learn to read and write.

According to multiple news reports, Abelita began teaching after discovering that the children could say their names but could not write them. During quiet periods at the pawnshop he guarded, he helped them practise writing their names before introducing basic reading and alphabet lessons.

What started with one child grew into lessons for several children. Abelita prepared lesson plans at night and gave activities and simple tests to check their progress.

His efforts gained public attention after a passing couple photographed him teaching a child. People began calling him “Sir Sekyu” and “sekyu-guro.”

Abelita shared that he had been unable to finish his own studies and wanted to encourage the children to keep learning.

His story reminds us that helping someone can begin with noticing a need and making time. A little patience and shared knowledge can give a child confidence to keep trying—and hope for more opportunities ahead.
