BINALAYBAY | Beneath the Weight of Grades

Beneath the fluorescent classroom glow,
A quiet storm begins to grow—
In minds too young to bear the strain,
Of endless tests and mental pain.

The clock ticks loud in anxious ears,
Each second steeped in mounting fears.
A letter grade, a numbered score,
Defines the worth, and nothing more.

Late nights blur with early dawn,
As dreams of sleep are quickly gone.
Books and notes like heavy chains,
Bind freedom tight with unseen pains.

The spark of learning once so bright,
Now flickers weak in harshest light.
Not for the love of what we know,
But just to chase a constant "go."

Parents hope, and teachers push,
The world becomes a silent hush.
No time to laugh, no time to play,
Just pressure mounting every day.

Yet somewhere in that quiet cry,
A voice within begins to sigh—
“I am more than what I score,
A mind, a heart, and so much more.”
