𝑆𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑦 𝐹𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑠
This study assessed gender related issues and evaluated the effectiveness of gender responsive programs in selected schools. The research examined Gender and Development mainstreaming across people, policies, and programs using mixed methods analysis.

𝐾𝑒𝑦 𝐹𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠
Entry Point 1 People showed strong gender inclusive efforts with a Strong Evident rating.
Policies and Programs Activities and Projects showed an Evident level, indicating the need for stronger gender responsive implementation.
Gender related issues were rated Low but qualitative results revealed experiences of discrimination and exclusion among LGBTQIA plus students.
Spearman Rho showed a moderate positive correlation between gender mainstreaming and gender related issues.

The study recommends revitalizing gender mainstreaming programs to strengthen policies, improve inclusive practices, and provide safe learning spaces for all students.

Biaoco-Young and Marcos D. Bito-onon appears in the WVSU Research Journal, Volume 11, Issue 2, December 2022. The research examines electrolyte balance during bowel preparation for colonoscopy. Results show stable sodium and potassium levels among patients who received an isotonic carbohydrate electrolyte beverage, while those who received distilled water showed higher rates of electrolyte reduction and hypokalemia. Findings highlight the importance of proper fluid replacement in maintaining electrolyte balance, which supports kidney function and patient safety.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?

Out of 152 identified authors in the journal, 89 are women. This represents 58.55 percent of the total authorship. Male authors account for 63 researchers or 41.45 percent.

These figures show strong participation of women in research publication and academic knowledge production within the WVSU Research Journal.

“𝗦𝗶𝘆𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗮” 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼

A successful field engagement and research activity was conducted by a team from West Visayas State University (WVSU) during their visit to the cinnamon farms of Plantsville Health partner farmers in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on February 18–19, 2026.

The visit was led by Dr. Bernice Mae Yu Jeco-Espaldon and her research team to conduct field engagement and early morning specimen collection for an ongoing study. Joining the activity were Dr. Stephen Sabinay, Dr. Aris Larroder, and support staff from the University Research and Development Center (URDC), including Joezer Alamo, Mark Louie Jutay, and Mary Ruth Lusuegro. The team was assisted by November Canieso-Yeo, Chief Executive Officer of Plantsville Health, who facilitated coordination with partner farmers.

The activity highlighted strong collaboration among researchers, industry partners, and local stakeholders, contributing to the advancement of agricultural research and sustainable cinnamon production. The team expressed gratitude to West Visayas State University Himamaylan Campus, led by Campus Administrator Dr. Genesis Camarista, for allowing the use of the university van as transportation support. Special thanks were also extended to Mrs. Jelyn Ramos, Administrative Officer, for her assistance and to Sir Bernie, the assigned driver, for ensuring the team’s safety throughout the fieldwork.

The team further conveyed their sincere appreciation to Dr. Joselito Villaruz, WVSU President; Dr. Greta Gabinete, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension; Dr. Ryan Michael Oducado, URDC Director; and Dr. Geneveve Lachica, CRISMEd Director, for their continued support in advancing the university’s research initiatives and community engagement efforts.
