World Wildlife Day 2025:
"Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet"
Today, on World Wildlife Day, let's focus on the critical need for innovative financial solutions to protect our planet's biodiversity.

Here are three important facts to consider:
Biodiversity Crisis: Over a million species face extinction due to habitat loss, climate change, and illegal wildlife trade. This crisis affects not just ecosystems but also human well-being and economies.

Financial Gap: Currently, only about $143 billion is invested annually in biodiversity conservation, far short of the estimated $824 billion needed to effectively protect global biodiversity.

CITES Milestone: This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), a landmark agreement that has helped regulate international wildlife trade and protect endangered species.

Let's invest in nature today for a sustainable tomorrow!

𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓! 🌳

The College of Forestry recently concluded its highly successful Forestry Week, held from February 19 to 21. This annual event brought together students, faculty, and esteemed guests to celebrate the importance of forestry and its vital contributions to our environment.

We were honored to welcome Forester Marcial D. Aloda, an accomplished alumnus, as our guest speaker. His inspiring insights into the field not only motivated our students but also underscored the critical role foresters play in sustainably managing our natural resources.

Celebrate World Wetlands Day with this year's theme is "Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future." Here are some eye-opening facts:
• Wetlands cover only about 6% of the Earth's land surface, but they support 40% of all plant and animal species.
• Wetlands act as natural sponges, absorbing excess rainfall and reducing flood risk.
• They are crucial for carbon storage, helping to combat climate change.
Let's raise awareness and take action to protect these invaluable ecosystems!
