Disclaimer: there are many takeout joints in Iloilo that are worth highlighting because Iloilo has grown more cultured than ever — the lockdown did not stop these stubborn folks. Batuan’s top team picks do more than deliver the goods: they prove themselves consistent time and time again and can keep your happiness sustained as lockdowns stay indefinite.
Here are our teams’ top preferred takeouts that we think are worth mentioning that will not let you down:
1. Yarim Cafè
First and foremost, the most authentic Middle Eastern cafe in town. Only few Middle Eastern cafes are around town and we think — we know — that Yarim Café is the most prominent choice for takeout. No, not like the fast food experience you might have from 'Jabee' but like the experience you would get from an authentic joint when travelling. Opt for the Beef Kabsa, and you'll know what we are talking about. Even taken out and placed in an airtight plastic container, the dish arrives tender to the point of slideing off a fork — no knife is needed. Beef kebab, Chicken Biryani and Hummus, dishes so authentic, so well crafted, so full of spices it'll have you forgetting you're in Tabok Suba, or in Mandurriao, or at your tita Beth's place. The misery, the loneliness of the lockdown, suddenly, for a moment in time, evaporates into thin air.

2. JD Burger Project
Second pick of the draft is none other than one of the best — if not the very best — burger joints in town. Convenient, quality, fun and exciting buns at the tap of your phone through GrabFood. JD Burger Project has been long a crowd favorite since it has opened its doors in 2019. From their soft buttery brioche potato buns down to their quality imported New Zealand Beef, it's hard not to love the place. Batuan's top BP picks are none other than the 'OGs': The Don Emilio,
Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Project Fries, Onion Rings and the Mango Milkshake. From their refreshing new menu items we highly recommend testing out the Glazed Pork Belly, Chicken Parma and the Birds of Paradise — all available in whole wheat buns, btw, if you are looking to cut the calories.

3. Kogi & Vegi
Numerous Korean joints are worth mentioning in Iloilo, but Kogi & Vegi's quality, freshness, authenticity and the professional ex*****on of their cuisine in a remarkable consistent track record year in and year out never disappoints. Kogi & Vegi has made available lunch boxes good for two on GrabFood of their popular dishes, such as the Beef Bulgogi served with rice, the usual Korean sides of kimchi and soybean sprouts, and sodas. Other dishes that are evidently worth a go are Bibimbap, Kogi & Vegi Kimbap Sushi Roll, and if you are in the mood to explore your horizons, their cold noodles works wonders.
