Part 6: PLANNING AND MEETINGS
Hosting the 71st DBHS Alumni Homecoming was no easy task. It took patience, teamwork, and a whole lot of dedication to rise to the challenge.
As early as January 2024, we already sat down with the Golden Batch, Batch 1974, over lunch to get their advice and guidance. They were so supportive and gladly accepted their roles. By March, our batch officially gathered, set up committees, and laid down our plansโincluding fundraising ideas to keep the ball rolling.
April kicked off with raffle ticket selling at the plaza, while we also prepared for another big projectโthe Gotad Bike Race 4. By May, we secured the JnC Sound System, knowing how busy December schedules can get.
June tested our energy and teamwork, but it paid off! The bike race was a success, and we also drew the winners of our raffle. From July to August, planning became more intense. Meetings at APEX Autoshop went from monthly, to twice a month, to weekly for coordinators.
By September, we were in full swingโrolling out invites, setting contests, and working with PNP, Barangay, BFP, Red Cross, and even Katbalan Book. October brought firewood reservations and food planning with our ever-reliable Kuya Adong. November was all about polishing the detailsโwhat to order, where to order, who should order. Everything fell into place.
Then came Decemberโthe final stretch. Hunting down pigs for butchering gave us stress and laughs at the same time. It wasnโt easy, and yes, tensions ran high, but true to our spirit as Batch 99โwe faced every challenge together.
In the end, what we built was more than just an event. It was a journey of teamwork, laughter, stress, patience, and joyโproof that with unity, nothing is too hard for us to achieve. โค๏ธ
