The Ifugao State UniversityโLamut Campus officially recognized 1,501 graduates during its 17th Commencement Exercises held at the Luis Hora Gymnasium in Lamut, Ifugao, on May 18, 2026.
Carrying the theme, โCulturally Driven Resilience: IFSU Graduates Fostering Excellent and Sustainable Futures,โ the commencement exercises were conducted in two consecutive ceremonies. Both programs formally opened with the entrance of the university mace, academic procession, and presentation of colors.
The morning ceremony honored graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Agriculture and Sustainable Development (CASD), and College of Health Sciences (CHS). Serving as guest of honor and commencement speaker, Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes, Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education Central Office, reminded the graduates that learning extends far beyond the classroom.
"Today you receive a degree, but education does not end with a diploma or a certificate,โ Catanes said. He emphasized that education is a lifelong journey of developing knowledge, skills, values, and competence.
In her final commencement address as university president, Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon encouraged the graduates to stand firm in their identity and purpose. "Own your journey, take responsibility for your path,โ she said. She also urged the graduates to aspire for excellence with integrity and to rely on Godโs strength as they navigate what lies ahead.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates during the morning ceremony, Reah Mae F. Ballucanac, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bachelor of Science in Tourism, expressed gratitude to parents, instructors, mentors, the institution, the university president, and God for their unwavering support throughout their academic journey.
Ballucanac also challenged her fellow graduates to become instruments of positive change in society by using their knowledge and abilities to contribute meaningful solutions to societal concerns. She concluded her speech by reminding her fellow graduates that true success lies not in fame or titles, but in living a life that honors the Lord.
Meanwhile, the afternoon ceremony recognized graduates from the College of Advanced Education (CAE), College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), College of Computing Sciences (CCS), and College of Education (COE). Provincial Governor Jerry U. Dalipog, guest of honor and commencement speaker for the second ceremony, commended the graduates for their perseverance, resilience, and sacrifices in reaching this milestone.
โAs you step into the future, may you be guided by courage, strengthened by faith, and inspired by hope,โ Dalipog said.
Following the presidentโs charge, Proverbs B. Medalla, Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education, delivered the graduatesโ response for the afternoon ceremony. โToday, we dedicate our success to our dear parents and guardians, even to our teachers who molded us and helped us,โ Medalla said. Quoting Jeremiah 29:11, she reminded her fellow graduates that greater opportunities and a hopeful future await them beyond graduation.
Furthermore, Hon. Jeramil B. Bahni, President of the IFSU Alumni Associations Federation, Inc., led the induction of the graduates as official alumni of the university. The ceremony also included the graduatesโ pledge of loyalty to the institution, followed by the singing of the IFSU hymn and the exit of the university mace and colors.
