Project BADDANG: AIS brings Advocacy and Development at Sitio Compra
Alupapan Integrated School (AIS), in collaboration with the Pugol Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), and Provincial Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), spearheaded Extension Program through Project BADDANG (Bringing Advocacy and Development Among Next Generations) with a theme "Project BADDANG: Nurturing Families, Empowering Communities" at Sitio Compra, Alupapan, Pugol, Lamut, Ifugao on March 7, 2026.
The program started with an energizer led by Klarissa D. Belingon, Social Sciences Teacher, followed by an opening program led by Remy Eunice H. Cannog, grade 11 students. Afterwards, separate sessions occured, whereas the children went to a separate venue for storytelling facilitated by Daisy L. Hangdaan, English teacher, while the parents and youth remained for Information and Education Communication about illegal drug and substance use, teenage pregnancy, and malnutrition.
In the first session, David A. Bastian, PDEA Ifugao Team Leader, tackled about illegal drug and substance use for awareness and encouraged parents to monitor their children. Just after the discussion, parents asked about the regulation or eradication of ma*****na, and the possible effects of using illegal substance like liquor and ci******es.
Moreover, Michelle D. Hullana, Barangay Midwife, explained on the effects of teenage pregnancy, encouraging youth to prioritize education over emotion. She also rewarded youth who answered correctly when she asked questions about the topic discussed. One of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars elaborated the pinggang Pinoy and emphasized nutritious food intakes, such as go, grow, glow foods.
The Barangay Captain of Pugol, Omar K. Bogbo, highlighted in his talk about the significance of extension program. "Hoping that this Project BADDANG of Alupapan Integrated School continues as it helps community," he shared in his speech.
Mrs. Belingon emphasized the importance of partnership and collaboration because this extension program would not be this successful if without the help of BLGU and other organizations. While, Joey Boy P. Gacayan, Research Teacher, expounded the reason why this extension program come about. "Based on the findings of the studies of student-researchers of AIS, this Project BADDANG was proposed to extend hand to those who are in need and to address pressing issues such as illegal drug use, teenage pregnancy, malnutrition, and solid waste management issues. We hope that through this Project BADDANG, many people will be helped and encouraged to extend hand to the marginalized communities or families." Additionally, student-researchers presented the findings of their studies.
Before the closing remarks, the children rendered a song in front of the parents and youth. After that, school materials were handed over to them. Also, pre-loved clothing and footwear were given to them.
As an appreciation for the effort and time of the resource speakers, the team gave a simple love gift.
This extension program was a collaborated activity through Project BADDANG. The organizations and subjects involved in this program were Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD), Youth for Environment Sustainability Organization (YES-O), Senior High Academic Research Project (SHARP), Community Engagement, Solidarity and Citizenship (CESC), and Jesus and Me (JAM). The team also appreciated the involvement of Zenia Rose Ann G. Lumauig, English teacher and volunteer, the grade 11 volunteers: Justin Paul Hidalgo, Mark Nathaniel Tumitit, Markeey Gasmin, Chester John Hidalgo, Sandy Lee Dinamling, Hamen Dacuso, Jayve Kurt Kimmayong, Arnel Sarmiento, Remy Eunice Cannog, Kurt Loven Ayad, and Regene Faith C. Ayad.
