From the bustling newsroom of Laoac NHS New Horizon to the dazzling stage of Binibining Laoac, Hannah Calex Naces has once again proven that talent, hard work, and grace go hand in hand. A dedicated writer, mobile news anchor, and meticulous copyreader from 2023 to 2026, Hannah has spent years honing her voice and presence, shaping stories that inform, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.

Last March 5, 2026, that same confidence and dedication shone brilliantly under the spotlight, earning her the crown of Binibining Laoac 2026 and the admiration of judges, peers, and the community alike. Her victory is more than a personal triumphโ€”it is a proud celebration of a New Horizon writer whose passion and commitment extend far beyond the page.

Now, with a crown on her head, Hannah continues to inspire her peers and the entire LNHS community, showing that excellence in every endeavorโ€”whether in journalism or pageantryโ€”is always recognized and celebrated. From penning stories to commanding the spotlight, she embodies the spirit of a modern Filipino achiever: talented, articulate, and fearless in pursuing her dreams. Her triumph at Binibining Laoac 2026 stands as a shining testament that one writerโ€™s voice can resonate far beyond the page.

On November 27, 2025, a symposium with the theme โ€œAdolescent Health Issues and Perspectivesโ€ was conducted at Laoac National High Schoolโ€™s 5th District Court. It was not merely an ordinary day โ€” it was a moment when vision was translated into reality.

Every homeroom guidance officer from Grades 7 to 12 was encouraged to participate attentively in the event. Many students gathered at the venue, where they shared knowledge, articulated their thoughts, and expressed their opinions.

We would also like to acknowledge the presence of our resource speakers. Without them, we would not have been able to fully grasp the meaningful message of the symposium. They served as instruments in imparting proper s*xual education to the students โ€” something that creates a long-lasting impact.

During the symposium, they discussed comprehensive s*xuality education, gender and s*x, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). Through these impactful and relevant topics, the studentsโ€™ minds were enlightened and opened to the prevalent issues affecting adolescents today.

In addition, proper reproductive autonomy was also emphasized during the event โ€” highlighting the importance of consent and rational decision-making. Statistics were also presented to support the topics with factual information and accurate data.

Moreover, the symposium created a supportive space where students felt encouraged to engage in meaningful conversations. By normalizing discussions on sensitive issues, the event helped remove the fear and hesitation often associated with topics like s*xuality and personal well-being. This openness allowed students to gain confidence in expressing themselves and seeking guidance when needed.

Most importantly, the event served as a reminder that adolescent health is a shared responsibility. Teachers, parents, guidance officers, and students must work hand in hand to build a community that supports informed choices and healthy perspectives. Through continued education, compassion, and awareness, the youth of today can grow into individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also responsible and empowered.

Getting closer to the youth through the words of God, showcasing students' potential in Physical Education, Music, and Health, and fostering students' sense of responsibility to learn values. These are the purposes Sir Job Tabelin Tabarnilla has set for himself when he got hired as a Senior High School teacher at Laoac National High School.

Sir Job is a married 26-year-old father of two. He earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education with a major in Physical Education, Health, and Music (PEHM) from Urdaneta City University, and on August 8, 2025, he officially began teaching at Laoac National High School.

โ€œThe course I took was parentally decided,โ€ Sir Job shared in an interview. โ€œI actually wanted to become a doctor, but due to a lack of economic access, I wasnโ€™t able to pursue that path.โ€

Though teaching was not his first choice, fate had a different plan. During his Field Study (FS), he became deeply attached to the profession. โ€œI got completely attached to my course because of the studentsโ€™ sweetness, their company, and how they ease my stress. They bring me peace,โ€ he said.

He wants to build stronger relationships with his students through faith, sharing the words of God, and helping the youth strengthen their spiritual ties. Additionally, he intended to establish a choir group to help students develop their singing abilities and a dance troupe that embraces a range of genres, allowing students to express themselves artistically.

"I get my inspiration, motivation, and protection against temptation by reading the Bible every day," he admitted in an interview. In addition to guiding his personal life, his faith helps him mentor his students both within and beyond the classroom.

Every teacher's journey begins differently, but Sir Job's began with a renewed sense of purpose, faith, and enthusiasm for teaching. From his dream of becoming a doctor to his current position as an educator, his story shows that destiny always leads one to where one is meant to be.

To strengthen awareness on gender equality and promote camaraderie, the faculty and staff of Laoac National High School participated in a three-day Gender and Development (GAD) Training and Workshop held on last October 23-25, 2025.

The first two days of the activity were conducted at the school MOORE building, where participants engaged in a series of lectures and workshops facilitated by resource speakers namely, Dr. Remegia V. Javier, the GAD coordinator who talked about Gender-fair language, Atty. Melchor L. Mapalo who talked about Harassment vs. Safe Spaces Act, Dr. Orpha Estrada who talked Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), Madam Meljean Rock Dolores who spoke about Men to oppose violence anywhere, and Atty. Rina Paula Rollusta who thoroughly discussed Administrative and Criminal Cases.

Through interactive discussions and group activities, the participants deepened their understanding of gender issues and learned practical ways to integrate GAD principles into classroom instruction and school programs.

On the third day, the group proceeded to Sual, Pangasinan for a team building activity, which served as both a culminating event and a wellness break for the participants. Fun and collaborative games were organized to foster teamwork, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and boost morale among the faculty and staff.

The GAD Training and Workshop, capped with the team building activity, reflected the schoolโ€™s continuous commitment to gender equality, professional growth, and employee welfare.

The event took place on October 15, 2025, at the DSWD FO I Panlipunan Hall in the City of San Fernando, La Union.

Jasaโ€™s victory serves as living proof that success is attainable through dedication, perseverance, and resilience.

โ€œI am truly grateful and proud to be awarded 2nd Runner-Up at the competition. I sincerely thank God for His guidance throughout the journey,โ€ Jasa said.

The certificate he received is not merely a piece of paperโ€”it is a symbol of a spirit that never gave up, but instead rose above adversities.

โ€œThis achievement means so much ti me because it continues my streak of winnings from Division to Provincial, and now Regional,โ€ he added.โ€

This brilliant student is now ready to set boundaries, push limitations, and continue striving for greater success.

โ€œMy heartfelt gratitude to my coach, Sir Mark Anthony Molina, and to maโ€™am Estela Nakama for their support, patience, and encouragement,โ€ Jasa concluded.

His journey stands as an inspiration to his fellow students to aim high and believe that excellence is always within reach.

Immediate responses were taken after Laoac National High School felt a quake hours ago.

Students and teachers vacate their classrooms as fast as they could to prevent danger in case of aftershocks.

Through the fast action of SDRRMC coordinator, Donald L. Crispino, alarms were heard around the school signaling the students and teachers to immediately vacate their classrooms and offices.

According to the report released by the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter of the recent earthquake was in Pugo, La Union reaching intensity IV in the said location.

Just last week, an offshore earthquake was felt at Cebu City, resulting to a large amount of damage, injuries and fatalities.

With this in mind, officials of the school are advising the students and teachers to still be alert and vigilant at all times as there might be aftershocks.
