SM City Laoag Unites Over 1,000 Volunteers for World Oceans Day Clean-Up

LAOAG CITY, Philippines, 7th June 2026 - In celebration of World Oceans Day, SM City Laoag,
through SM Cares, spearheaded a coastal clean-up at Navotas South Beach, bringing together
communities in a unified effort to protect marine ecosystems and promote environmental
sustainability.

The initiative brought together 1,330 volunteers from 62 government agencies, organizations, and
schools, demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental protection and sustainable waste
management.

The collective effort resulted in the collection of 1,040 kilograms of waste, consisting of 470 kg of
recyclables, 375 kg of residual waste, and 195 kg of compostables.

Beyond restoring the
cleanliness of the coast, the activity raised awareness on the importance of preserving oceans
and coastal resources for future generations.

Aligned with the SM Waste-Free Future campaign, SM City Laoag continues to champion
programs that encourage proper waste segregation, environmental stewardship, and collective action.

Through initiatives like the World Oceans Day coastal clean-up, the mall strengthens its
commitment to protecting natural resources and creating meaningful impact, one community at a
time.
