𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗯𝗔𝗜 𝗻𝗶 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼 - 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮 (𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟮)

Students put their knowledge, creativity, and skills to the test as MICE 2026: LakbAI ni Turismo concluded its two-day celebration on September 10, 2026 at the DWCL Gymnasium.

The second day featured a series of activities and competitions, including the Sustainable Fashion Show, Local Tour Guiding, Quiz Bee, Program Showcase: Choose My Course, and Mini Tan-Ok: Festival Dance. The activities challenged students to demonstrate their knowledge of tourism, creativity, communication skills, teamwork, and appreciation of local culture.

Group 3 “Wow Peace” secured the Quiz Bee championship, while Mariela Ann Sueno’s group emerged as the winner of the Program Showcase: Choose My Course. Precious De Castro won the Local Tour Guiding Competition, while Team “Municipality of Vintar” claimed the Mini Tan-Ok Showdown.

The Sustainable Fashion Show also recognized winners in the Fire, Water, Air, and Earth categories, bringing the two-day event to a close. | 𝘷𝘪𝘢 𝘑𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘑𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘛. 𝘈𝘨𝘰𝘰

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗯𝗔𝗜 𝗻𝗶 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼 - 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭

Organized by MICE 2026, the Tourism Management students of the Divine Word College of Laoag, Inc. (DWCL) started the LakbAI ni Turismo on September 9, with a symposium and a series of sessions on different areas of the tourism industry.

A General Symposium on “Digital Agenda & Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism” was held in the morning at the St. Freinademetz Theater, featuring resource speaker Ianree B. Raquel, Head of the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office.

Moreover, the afternoon featured breakout sessions led by Mara S. Manuel on personality and career readiness for first-years, Juan Carlo Tabios III on tour guiding and visitor experiences for second-years, and Jasmin V. Viloria on airline ticketing and ground services for third-years. | 𝘷𝘪𝘢 𝘑𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘜. 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘰

DWCL commemorated the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and celebrated the 151st Founding Anniversary of the SVD through a three-part program held today, September 8, 2026.

Seven faculty members from the Divine Word College of Laoag, Inc. (DWCL) were conferred academic titles today, September 8, 2026, as the College celebrated the 151st Founding Anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD).

Dr. Jose Vallente A. Ballesteros, PhD, was conferred with the title of “Professor”, advancing from his previous rank as “Assistant Professor.”

In his speech, he highlighted the importance of continuous education and emphasized the need of educators to grow, keep learning, and inspire students.

“We cannot give what we don't have, and we cannot expect from our students what we are not willing to demand from ourselves. If you ask them to strive for excellence, then we too, must strive for excellence,” he said.

Also conferred were Ray Mark Paul C. Matias, PhD; and Melody Luz M. Sapinoso, DNM, to the rank of “Associate Professor,” while George B. Raciles, MBA, CHP; and Margarita M. Galat was given the rank of “Assistant Professor.”

Moreover, Shaina R. Chua, MBA, and April Joyce B. Castro, MBA, LPT, were both conferred to the rank of “Instructor.”

The Conferment Rites serve as a formal recognition of the achievements of faculty members in teaching, researching, and service in the institution.

Prior to the event was the Eucharistic Celebration for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the founding anniversary of the SVD.

The Mass highlighted the giving of tokens of appreciation to the College’s SVD priests and the offering of flowers to Mother Mary in honor of her birth.

The three-part program concluded with the Blessing of Institutional Places at the new faculty offices of the School of Nursing and the School of Engineering, Architecture, and Information Technology.

The new faculty offices for the School of Nursing (SN) and the School of Engineering, Architecture, and Information Technology (SEAIT) were formally blessed by DWCL President Rev. Fr. Edsel R. Demillo, SVD, and Fr. Dameanus Abun, SVD, respectively.

Thus stressed Fr. Edsel R. Demillo, SVD, in his homily during the Eucharistic Celebration of the Divine Word College of Laoag, Inc. (DWCL) today, September 8, 2026, in commemoration of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the 151st Founding Anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD).
