The Williamite (TW) garnered three awards in the recently concluded Organization of Student Services Educators, Inc., (OSSEI) National Training Workshop on Campus Journalism on September 25-27, 2025, at Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City.
The event, attended by 24 publications from both public and private higher education institutions in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, featured sessions related to various fields in campus journalism.
Representing the publication, Julius Caezar Tugas, head layout and graphics artist, and Adrian Dumayas, mobile journalist, placed second in the Page Layout & Design and in the Photo Essay competitions, respectively.
Furthermore, TWโs recent official Tabloid issue took third place in the Tabloid/Semi-Broadsheet (Print Publications) category.
โIt was an honor to be among the different student publications across the country. The experience was truly one to remember, especially with the awards we brought home on the last day, and I will always be proud of the publication for all of it,โ expressed TW's Editor-in-Chief Denise Tagatac.
Tagatac also noted that with most of the staff being new to the press this year, the awards marked not only personal triumphs but shared achievements that opened lines to several stories the publication will continue to write together.
The conference was also attended by Managing Editor Nicholas Elizier Acoba, News Editor Justin Tacderan, and Development Communication Editor Jada Amara Calapini, together with the publicationโs adviser, Robert Angel Mercurio.
