Davao NTB Wolves Eliminates Cebu's Mancor/Atty.Dico in PSL Semifinals

Team Mindanao, powered by Davao NTB Wolves, outplayed Cebu's Mancor-Atty.Dico with a commanding 76-67 victory in the semifinals of the PSL Nationals 20-under category at Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.

This victory propels Davao into the PSL National Finals while sending Cebu packing.

Davao came out of the gates with a strong start, initially seizing the lead. However, Cebu responded with a late-quarter surge, ending the first quarter narrowly ahead at 20-19.

The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with both squads trading buckets and the lead constantly shifting. By halftime, Davao had edged out a slim 38-35 lead.

In the third quarter, Davao continued to hold their ground, finishing the period with a 59-52 advantage.

Eager to prove their dominance, Davao turned up the heat in the fourth quarter, securing their first double-digit lead at 74-64 with two minutes left on the clock.

Without looking back, they held on to close out the game in the remaining minutes with a solid 76-67 victory.

John Rodulfa led the way for Davao with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, driving both their offense and defense to secure the win.

This defeat marks the end of the road for Cebu's Mancor-Atty.Dico in the PSL Nationals, while the Davao NTB Wolves advance to the PSL National Finals, looking poised for a strong finish.

Solonia and Dugaduga's 49-point combo stuns Manila-UST, lifts Cebu to Semis

Powered by a dazzling 49-point combo from Mark Leonard Solonia and Yzah Myl Dugaduga, Cebu's very own Mancor-Atty.Dico pulled off a dramatic 83-79 overtime victory against Manila's University of Santo Tomas (UST) during their PSL National Finals 20-under clash at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.

Cebu came out firing in the first half, establishing a commanding lead with a score of 29-17 in the first five minutes. Their relentless offense and staunch defense saw them end the quarter ahead, 39-29, setting the tone for what appeared to be a dominant performance.

However, the third quarter witnessed a fierce comeback from UST. Despite trailing 43-35 at the five-minute mark, Manila's hoopsters clawed their way back, cutting Cebu's lead to just two points by the end of the quarter, 50-48, that sets the court for an intense final quarter.

The fourth quarter was a rollercoaster of emotions. Manila surged ahead, taking a five-point lead, 66-61, with just two minutes remaining. But Cebu was not done yet.

With 1:09 left on the clock, Dugaduga drained a clutch three-pointer that was then followed by an acrobatic reverse lay-up from Arnold Minoza Jr., tying the game at 66-66 with 40 seconds remaining. Cebu had a chance to seal the game in regulation but missed their final shot, sending the game into overtime.

Cebu started overtime with a bang, racing to a 76-68 lead with 1:25 left. Manila, refusing to go quietly, trimmed the lead to four points, 76-72, with a combination of free throws and a basket inside the paint. However, Solonia retaliated as he delivered a dagger three-pointer, extending Cebu's lead to 79-72.

In the frantic final 13 seconds, UST hoopsters managed to score two free throws and a clutch three-pointer, but Dugaduga's killer free-throw shooting draining four from his six attempts sealed Cebu's nail-biting victory at 83-79.

Yzah Myl Dugaduga finished with 24 points, seven assists, four steals, and one rebound. Mark Leonard Solonia complemented him with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while also contributing two assists and one steal.

"Success is 80% psychology and 20% hard work. It is all about proper mind conditioning and mind setting. It always starts in the mind. Thank you Lord for the second win. One win at a time. One more game tomorrow," quipped CPA Attorney Reymar Englis Dico on his facebook wall.

With this victory, Cebu's Mancor-Atty.Dico advances to the semifinals with an undefeated record of 2-0, making them a formidable contender in the PSL National Finals.
