PASA AND/OR BLEEDING: puwedeng NOT normal

🖤red flags for potential bleeding disorder [mga clues na baka hindi normal ang mga pasa and/or pagdurugo]:
🤓optional mnemonic: 0 S M U P F... other soldiers must use protective force

🤓O for out of proportion - ang tindi ng pasa or bleeding ay ang lala than what we expect from the injury
🤓S for spontaneous - sure kayong hindi tumama somewhere yet bigla na lang nagkapasa
🤓M for multiple - minsan hindi kayo sure kung spontaneous or not dahil ang lilikot ng mga bata pero kung napakarami ng pasa aba baka spontaneous nga iyan...
🤓U for unusual locations - Nakahiga lang sa crib ang baby tapos may mga pasa pasa na? May bleeding sa joints? May dugo sa p**p? Malikot na school age child pero ang mga pasa ay nasa trunk??
‼️Consider din the possibility of *hild *buse. Baka sinasaktan ng yaya, kapatid, classmate etc.
🤓P for prolonged and/or recurrent - 30 minutes nagnosebleed? Kakagaling lang ng isang pasa may bagong mga pasa na naman elsewhere?
🤓F for family history - lahi sa pamilya ng bleeding disorder

Do patients trust older doctors more? Sino ang mas magaling?

🤔Sabi ng isang friend ko gusto niya magmukhang older para hindi siya napagkakamalang bagong doctor.
🤓Wala akong mahanap na published Filipino research on this topic. Dati iyon din ang paniniwala ko... na baka older ang preferred. However, sa paglipas ng panahon, I realized:

1. Hindi lahat ng older doctor ay mas maraming experience. Iyong iba ilang dekada nang konti ang pasyente so konti pa rin ang experience kahit matanda na.
2. Hindi lahat ng experiences ay tama. Iyong iba paulit ulit lang nagrereseta ng mali.
3. Hindi lahat ng bata ay mas updated. Minsan may mga dumarating saking second opinion tapos pangsinaunang style ang gamutan so I ask kung matanda ang nagreseta... tapos nagugulat ako na hindi naman.
4. Hindi lahat ng umaattend ng conferences and lectures ay updated. Iyong iba natutulog lang at iyong iba ay nakikipagchismisan lang ✌🏻😂 Ang tamaan guilty.
5. Hindi lahat ng pumupunta abroad and/or maraming inaral ay mas magaling. Iyong iba tunog magaling based sa haba ng letters after name pero out of this world ang advice ✌🏻

🖤May mga parents na prefer ang matanda pero konti lang naman ang ganyan...magsasabing "bata ka pa pala" then hindi na bumabalik. 😅

👨🏻‍⚕Hindi dapat edad ang basis kundi ang galing.
😜I will continue to apply anti-aging products. Hindi ko gagawing mukhang matanda ang sarili ko para sa maling paniniwala ng minority hehe 😆 Hindi nakakatalino ang wrinkles 😆😆😆

About this page:

What is the purpose of this page?

to promote better understanding of health conditions, to fight medical misinformation, to promote preventive healthcare, to promote health-seeking behavior

What inspired me to start this page?

positive inspiration - I met a pediatric intensivist before who was excellent at explaining diseases to her patients. She explains everything from source of the illness down to treatment and expected course of the illness.

negative inspiration - Education is an important part of medical care but it is often neglected. I have seen so many patients who were prescribed meds but were not given any information on the illness.

Why are my posts in Taglish?

Since medical terms are in English, there is a tendency not to use simpler terms when writing in English. In contrast, since maraming medical terms ang walang direct Filipino translation, walang choice kundi iexplain sila =) Since marami rin akong followers na nasa medical profession, nilalagay ko na lang din in parentheses ung mga english and medical terms. Minsan kasi ang lalim na raw ng Tagalog ko and hindi na raw nila maintindihan.

Scope and Limitations

It is not my intention to give random health tips like other fb pages and youtube channels. I want this fb page to be somewhere patients visit AFTER seeing a doctor.

I do not support teleconsult. I don’t want parents to diagnose their kids based on what I post. I want them to know what is “normal” or usual for the disease.

Although may similarities ang symptoms ng diseases sa bata and sa adults, hindi laging pareho ang treatment. Maraming treatments sa adults na hindi pa tested sa mga bata. May mga treatments din na effective sa bata pero hindi gumagana sa adults. As the name of the page suggests, ang target ng posts ko ay mga bata hanggang teenagers lang.
