LASAM, Cagayan โ The Campus Student Council (CSC) of Cagayan State University (CSU) Lasam Campus officially transferred the symbolic key of responsibility and paid tribute to a year of student-led impact during a joint ceremony at the DARP Hall today, May 20.
The event merged the CSC Turn-over Ceremony with the Gawad Parangal 2026, serving as both a celebration for the outgoing administration and a formal inauguration of the campusโ incoming student leaders.
The Office of Student Development and Welfare (OSDW) Coordinator, Dr. Cherry C. Sanut, opened the event by honoring the legacy of the outgoing leaders and reminding the incoming officers that leadership is a calling to serve, not a privilege.
Speaking on behalf of Campus Executive Officer Dr. Florante Victor M. Balatico, CSC Adviser Dr. John Carlo L. Banan delivered a keynote address that challenged the student leaders to anchor their tenures on courage and altruism.
โContinue to dream boldly, lead fearlessly, and serve selflessly. The future of the student body is brighter because of leaders like you. Congratulations, and may your journey as student leaders be filled with purpose, success, and lasting inspiration,โ Dr. Banan urged.
The emotional peak of the transition came during the formal turnover, where outgoing CSC President Jomar M. Godoy delivered a candid reflection on the weight of his term, noting that true leadership often demands stepping into the breach during moments of collective hesitation.
"No one wanted to carry the responsibility. And in that moment, I realized that leadership is not always about wanting the position. Sometimes, it is about stepping up even when you are scared, uncertain, and unprepared,โ Godoy shared.
In his inaugural address, incoming CSC President Jonard A. Palattao accepted the mandate with a pledge to institutionalize transparency and horizontal governance, shifting the executive focus toward absolute accessibility.
โAs your President, I will not promise perfection. But I will promise presence. I will promise that decisions will not be made for the students, but with the students,โ Palattao declared.
The day concluded with the presentation of the Gawad Parangal, which recognized individual student leaders and accredited campus organizations for their exemplary service, operational excellence, and contributions to the university community over the past academic year.
