President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. during his State of the Nation Address on Monday said the completion of the government’s big-ticket infrastructure projects will continue even beyond his term.

“Asahan ninyo, magpapatuloy ang malawakang programang pang-imprastraktura ng Administrasyon,” Marcos said in his fourth SONA at the Batasang Pambansa.

𝗣𝗡𝗥 𝗕𝗜𝗖𝗢𝗟:

“Ang mga riles ng PNR Bicol Line na sinira ng bagyong Kristine ay unti-unting pinatibay at naa-ayos na, kasama na ang Binahan Bridge. Hindi magtatagal, madadagdagan pa ang haba ng linya nito, at aabot na sa Ragay, Camarines Sur hanggang Tagkawayan, Quezon,” Marcos said.

The president said the project will ease traffic congestion for motorists going between Quezon province and the Bicol Region.

Marcos added that the extension of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from Sto. Tomas, Batangas to Tiaong, Quezon will be completed by 2026.

“Kapag natapos ang buong proyekto, ang dating apat na oras na biyahe, magiging isang oras na lamang,” he said.

“Kaya ina-atasan ko ang DOTr at DPWH na bantayang mabuti ang mga proyekto sa kahabaan ng Quezon patulak ng Bicol, at tiyaking tama ang kalidad, matibay, at nasa takdang oras ng pagtatapos,” he added.

Several senators on Monday expressed disappointment that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. failed to mention the government’s steps to address the proliferation of online gambling in the country during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Senate majority leader Joel Villanueva, who is pushing for the total ban of online gambling, lamented how Marcos seemingly sidestepped the issue which “wreaks havoc on the lives of our people.”

Senator Risa Hontiveros, meanwhile, said that Marcos not tackling the issue of online gambling in his SONA was a “missed opportunity.”

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano also said his personal wishlist for the SONA was the action against online gambling.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Legazpi is conducting an investigation into the cause and extent of the damage from a fire that broke out at a vulcanizing shop on 1st Street, Barangay Bitano, Legazpi City, on the evening of July 28, 2025. The establishment is located directly across from the Legazpi City Water District.

According to the incident report received by DZGB News from BFP Legazpi, Deputy Fire Marshal Senior Fire Officer IV Garry Santander said the fire alarm was received at 7:33 p.m. Four fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The blaze escalated to a first-alarm level before it was declared under control at 7:57 p.m. and completely extinguished by 8:04 p.m., firefighters reported.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were recorded in the incident.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday vowed to take action and bring justice to the families of the 34 missing sabungeros or cockfighting enthusiasts, promising that the government will go after every individual involved — whether civilian or official — in what he called a “heinous crime.”

“Hahabulin at pananagutin natin ang mga utak at mga sangkot, sibilyan man o opisyal. Kahit malakas, mabigat, o mayaman, hindi sila mangi-ngibabaw sa batas,” Marcos declared.

Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III has responded to acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte’s ‘monkey’ remark, which came after Torre suggested a charity boxing match."

“Dahil ba maitim ako? Pare-pareho tayong Pilipino. Marami namang kasing-itim ko na Pilipino. So, lahat kami unggoy?” Torre said in a press briefing at Camp Crame, directly addressing Duterte’s controversial comment.

The insult came after Torre suggested a charity boxing match to raise funds for flood victims. Duterte, however, mocked the idea during a podcast aired on July 20, saying, “Huwag ka mag-alala, Torre, kasi matagal ko na talaga gusto makabugbog ng unggoy.”

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to submit a list of flood control projects for review by the Regional Project Monitoring Committee.

“The DPWH will immediately submit to me a list of all flood-control projects from every region that were started or completed in the last three years.

Second, the regional project monitoring committee shall examine that list of projects and give a report on those that have been failures, those that were not finished, and those that are alleged to be ghost projects,” Marcos instructed.

Once reviewed, the list will be made public, he declared, believing the Filipino people are owed the whole truth and are capable of aiding the probe.

“And third, we will publish this list. Isasapubliko natin ang listahang ito. Kaya ang publiko, na saksi sa mga proyektong ito, ay malayang suriin ang listahan, at magbahagi ng kanilang nalalaman para makatulong sa ating imbestigasyon,” Marcos said.

Despite cuts to their budget allocation, the DPWH received ₱1.007 trillion in 2025, the second-highest amount allocated to an agency, next to the Department of Education (DepEd).

𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟵 | 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗮, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝘂𝘀.

Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus live in Bethany, about two miles from Jerusalem. We know that the Lord was born in Bethlehem, grew up in Nazareth, and preached in Galilee, the Northern Part of Israel. Whenever Jesus goes to Jerusalem (the southern portion of Israel), he stays in the house of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus in Bethany. In short, in this household in Bethany, the Lord Jesus experienced the family spirit and friendship of Martha, Mary and Lazarus.

For this reason, the Gospel of John states that he loved them (Jn. 11:5). Martha generously offered him hospitality (Lk. 10:40; Jn. 12:2),
Mary listened attentively to his words (Lk. 10:39, 42); and
Lazarus promptly emerged from the tomb at the command of Jesus (Jn. 11:44).

From these three siblings, we can learn three lessons that we can use to grow in an intimate friendship with the Lord:

- 𝗦𝘁. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘆, 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀

LOOK : The chief of police of Oas PNP has been replaced as part of a recent reshuffling, with former chief Police Major Nathaniel Jacob reassigned as Deputy Chief of Police in Legazpi.

Replacing him in Oas PNP is Police Major Jonathan Apil, formerly the chief of police in Libon. Meanwhile, the new chief of police in Libon is now Police Major Roberto Flores.

The turnover ceremony was held yesterday at Camp Capt. Del Rosario Jaucian Sr. in Barangay Santa Cruz, Ligao City. The ceremony was personally led by Provincial Director Police Colonel Julius Anonuevo.
