The Basic Education Varsity Try-outs have officially concluded last Friday, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every student-athlete who stepped onto the court, field, and competition area with determination, discipline, and Thomasian spirit. A new chapter of student leadership began on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, as the Student Coordinating Council (SCC), led by President Gainelle Ortega and Science High School Vice President Eleisa Imperial, gathered club presidents, officers, and student leaders for a 5:00 PM meeting in the Junior High School Department. The meeting officially commenced after the preliminaries led by Sir Jean Phillipe Lizaso, the SCC Adviser.

The club leaders, presidents, and other club officers were invited to the meeting to discuss their plans and the possible activities that the clubs could organize and collaborate on with the help of the SCC, as the clubs had not been as active in the past years. Many valuable ideas and suggestions were shared by the students, paving the way for further planning and collaboration with the SCC for future events.

It is thrilling to see the students taking initiative and proudly representing their respective clubs. Be ready for the exciting contributions and activities that the clubs will bring to the Junior High School community this school year! Wishing the Student Coordinating Council and all Junior High School clubs the very best for a successful and productive year ahead.

Bianca Mae Barrun and Yjasmin Chen delivered podium finishes for the Junior High School after emerging champion and third placer, respectively, during the National Word Cup conducted via Zoom from July 4 to 18, 2026. Grade 10 completer Barrun topped the Editorial Cartooningโ€“English category, while Grade 8 student Chen secured third place in Copyreading and Headline Writingโ€“English. Also representing the school was Grade 10 completer Jamila Zambrano, who competed in Feature Writingโ€“English.

The students' performances highlighted the school's continued commitment to excellence in campus journalism, with Barrun's championship and Chen's podium finish adding to the Junior High School's achievements in national-level competitions.

Junior High School students had an exciting time as they explored the different clubs and organizations in the school during the morning. They visited the clubs that caught their interest, met fellow members, and learned about the fun activities and opportunities each club offers.

In the afternoon, students participated in the Dominican Formation, where they reflected on the Dominican values and learned more about the importance of faith, service, community, and truth as part of their journey as Legazpi Thomasians.

The dayโ€™s activities gave students the chance to discover new interests, and grow not only in their talents but also in their values. It reminded everyone that school is not only about learning inside the classroom but also about becoming active members of the community and living out the Dominican spirit throughout the school year.
