𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

Jonah Cassandra Gregorio advances after winning against Homapon High School, 11-9, 11-9, in the Female’s Badminton Singles Category in the Unit Meet that occurred in Homapon High School, last October 1, 2025.

Starting the match with well-placed shots and strategic gameplay, Gregorio wins her first set with a score of 11-9 against her opponent from Homapon.

Though, Gregorio seemed to have struggled with her breathing during her mid-game break, which led to a disadvantage against her opponent.

However, the persistent Gregorio did not let her condition affect her passion for winning the game, as she persevered through her second set against Homapon.

Gregorio displayed amazing drop shots that fooled her opponent, visibly taking control of the game. Despite sometimes performing faults that gave points to the other player, Gregorio carried on without a feeling of discouragement.

Thanks to her persistence along with the support from her team, Gregorio wins her second set with a score of 11-9 and secures her place for the next competition.

Jonah Cassandra Gregorio, along with her fellow triumphant Badminton players from Bicol University High School, are on their way to participate in the upcoming Zonal Meet 2025, taking place on November 6 to 8, 2025.

Lucas Gabriel Azupardo clears Homapon High School, 11-4, 11-9, in the Male’s Badminton Singles Category in the Unit Meet that took place in Homapon High School, last October 1, 2025.

Convincingly controlling the game with his excellent baseline defense and quick offense, Azupardo did not let San Francisco High School take a single point, taking down his opponent relentlessly with the score of 11-1 on the first set, and 11 love on the second set in his first game.

His real battle, however, started when he was matched with a player from Homapon High School. With aggressive shots from both courts, Azupardo outplayed his opponent and secured the first set with a score of 11-4.

However, Azupardo’s opponent swiftly matched his pace, and began to excel in his play. Despite his struggles to keep up with his opponent, Azupardo never wavered. With back-and-forth rallies and occasional quick smashes, Bicol University’s Azupardo clutches a score of 11-9 on his second set against Homapon High School.

𝐁𝐔, 𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐮𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐨 𝐬𝐚 𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐇𝐒!

Sa ikalawang araw ng Unit Meet 2025 noong Oktubre 1, 2025, nagliyab ang hardcourt ng Homapon Elementary School sa tensyong dala ng laban sa basketball sa pagitan ng CHS at BU.

Mula sa unang tip-off, agad na ipinamalas ng CHS ang kanilang solidong depensa at disiplinadong opensa, na tila ba bawat galaw ay planadong maigi.

Halos walang butas sa kanilang depensa, bawat pasa at tira ng BU ay agad na nasasalubong ng mahigpit na pagbabantay.

Gayunpaman, hindi nagpatinag ang koponan ng BU. Sa kabila ng mahigpit na depensa ng kalaban, patuloy silang lumaban at ipinakita ang kanilang puso at determinasyon.

Dalawang manlalaro ng BU, sina Chris Josef Ravago at Ray Vhon Bracamonte, ang tumingkad sa laban matapos ibuhos ang kanilang lakas at sigasig hanggang sa huling buzzer. Sa bawat fast break at depensang ginugol nila, nasaksihan ng mga manonood ang tunay na diwa ng sportsmanship.

Bagaman nagtapos ang laro sa iskor na 20-7, pabor sa CHS, hindi matatawaran ang tapang at pagkakaisa ng BU, patunay na sa sports, ang tunay na panalo ay ang pusong hindi sumusuko.

𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗪 𝗣𝗔 𝗥𝗜𝗡! | The much-anticipated Bicol University Hataw General Rehearsal pushed through despite the light scattered rain showers brought by Tropical Depression Ramil.

Selected students from all campuses of Bicol University showed great excitement and energy today at the Bicol University Sports Complex for the final practice before the BU Hataw on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Despite the scattered rain, the practice was still full of cheers, energy, and happiness from the participants.

The rehearsal started early at 7 a.m. with the iconic wave of pompoms and multiple rounds of the dance joined by all the students.

Though the rehearsal was cut short because of the rain, it proved that rain or shine, BUeños will always give their best “hataw” for a great performance. Eventually, a memorandum was released suspending all classes in all levels in Albay due to Tropical Depression Ramil bringing in light rain showers, causing the province to be under Signal No. 1.

BU Olympics 2025 is right around the corner, which also made the students more eager to memorize and give their all for the performance. BU Hataw will also be part of the opening program on Monday.

𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗛. Faculty members of the Bicol University College of Education Integrated Laboratory School – High School (BUCEILS-HS) were recognized for their dedication and service during the celebration of Teachers’ Day held on October 3, 2025, at the BUCEILS-HS Quadrangle.

The program officially opened with a short ceremony, brightening up the rest of the day. One of the event’s highlights was the Teachers’ Parade, where students proudly showcased their teachers through creative performances and tributes.

The celebration also featured intermission numbers and interactive games, which added a fun and lively touch to the teachers' day celebration.

The event marked the conclusion of the two-day journalism workshop organized by The Mayon. The top three winners in each category were recognized for their outstanding performance and were awarded medals by executive editors.

𝗨𝗡𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦. The final day of Surat Cinco: Writing The Mysteries of Truth was finished in a blaze on September 11, 2025, at the Gabaldon Building.

It ended with its final speakers, Ms. Mica Mae Sedan for Copyreading and Headline Writing, Mr. Ed Cristian Guese for Sports Writing, Ms. Mary Elaize Millare and Mr. Jehu Cyd Hallig for Script Writing and Radio Broadcasting, and Prof. April Mier-Manjares for both Feature Writing and Science and Technology Writing.

We are proud to continue this legacy to inspire young minds and to spread the truth through the youth.

Students gained newfound knowledge with insights from invited resource speakers: Mr. Jan Benedict Loyola for News Writing, Mr. Edward Lustan for Editorial Cartooning, Photojournalism, and Layout, Mr. Anacito Dematera for Sports Writing and Radio Broadcasting, and Prof. Gladys Serafica for Editorial and Column Writing.

Last September 3, 2025, applicants filled the The Mayon classroom—bringing news to life, weaving stories with words, and learning to command attention with nothing but their voice.

From news writing to live reporting, each applicant poured their creativity into the microphone, proving that broadcasting is more than just speaking—it’s about connecting, inspiring, and moving listeners through the power of voice.

Here, words found rhythm. Here, passion found a platform.

𝗣𝗔𝗚𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗟𝗔 𝗡𝗚 𝗞𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗔. Sa gitna ng nagliliyab na init noong biyernes, ika-29 ng Agosto, ipinamalas ng mga seksyon mula sa ika-7 hanggang ika-10 baitang ang kanilang mga kinatawan sa Hara at Datu. Suot ng mga Hara at Datu ang kanilang mga obra na damit mula sa mga pagreresiklo ng materyales habang rumampa para sa pinakahihintay na programa sa selebrasyon ng Buwan ng Wika 2025.

Ang pagtatanghal ng mga mag-aaral na miyembro ng INDAK at GLEE ay nagsilbing magandang daan upang mas maisaayos ang programa. Sila ay nagtanghal bago inanunsyo ang mga nanalo sa mga patimpalak.

Ang kinoronahan bilang Hara at Datu 2025 ay ang mga kinatawan ng 10-Einstein, na sinundan ng Hara ng 9-Character at Datu ng 10-Service. Habang ang nanalo naman ng ikalawang parangal ay ang Hara ng 10-Service at Datu ng 9-Character.

𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗞𝗔. Sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika 2025 na may temang “Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa,” muling ipinakita ng mga mag-aaral ng BUCEILS-HS mula ika-7 hanggang ika-10 baitang ang kanilang kahusayan sa iba’t ibang pagtatanghal.

Sinimulan ang ikalawang araw ng programa ng Grade 7 - Scholarship sa pamamagitan ng isang makabuluhang sabayang pagbigkas, na sinundan ng Grade 8 - Leadership sa kanilang madamdaming awit. Nagbigay-sigla naman ang Grade 9 - Character sa kanilang pagtatanghal ng banda. Nagpakitang-gilas naman ang Grade 10 - Einstein sa kanilang malikhaing sayaw, samantalang nagpamalas ng husay sa pag-indak ang Grade 10 - Service bilang pangwakas na pagtatanghal.

Sa kabuuan, naging makulay at matagumpay ang pagdaraos ng programa. Layunin nito na bigyang-diin ang kahalagahan ng wika at kultura sa pagbubuklod ng sambayanan, pati na rin ang papel ng wikang Filipino at mga katutubong wika bilang haligi ng ating pagkakaisa.

Tampok sa pagdiriwang ang iba't ibang tradisyonal na palaro tulad ng Sack Race, Tumbang Preso, at Mary Went to the Market, kung saan lumahok ang mga estudyante ayon sa kanilang mga seksyon.

Bago pa man opisyal na nagsimula ang mga laro, ipinakita ang mga poster at islogan na sumusunod sa temang "Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bayan."
