Typhoon Uwan continues to intensify while moving closer toward the Bicol Region. According to PAGASAโs 2:00 AM bulletin on Sunday, November 9, the eye of Typhoon Uwan was located 370 kilometers west of Virac, Catanduanes (13.8ยฐN, 126.7ยฐE).
It is currently packing maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 205 kph. Uwan is still moving west northwest at a speed of 35 kph, with strong to typhoon-force winds extending outward up to 800 km from the center.
Satellite images provided by DOST-PAGASA show that Uwan has maintained its large diameter, big enough to almost cover the entire country. More areas are under Signal No. 4, with PAGASA saying that Signal No. 5 may be raised should Uwan intensify into a super typhoon-category cyclone.

Regarding the forecast track, PAGASA warned that because the typhoon has picked up its pace, Uwan may make landfall over the Isabela-Aurora area by Sunday night instead of Monday morning.
Pagasa is also not ruling out the possibility of a landfall or a close approach over Catanduanes, as Uwan moves closer to the Bicol Region. According to Pagasaโs forecast track, Uwan would be over the coastal waters of Pandan, Catanduanes, by 11:00 a.m. of Sunday.
Heavy rainfall, severe winds, and storm surge may still be experienced in localities far from the landfall point and outside the forecast confidence cone.
