The Josefina Belmonte Duran Albay Provincial Hospital (JBDAPH) in Ligao City was energized yesterday, July 22, and is expected to hold its soft opening on or before November, Albay Governor Noel Rosal announced in an interview with DZGB News on Wednesday.

DZGB previously reported that the hospital was already 90 percent complete but could not operate due to a lack of electricity. Today, Governor Rosal confirmed that the facility is now energized, making it possible to begin initial operations. However, he said that full services will only be available once a new substation is constructed in the city to ensure a stable and sufficient power supply.

According to Rosal, the hospital will initially open with 150 beds and offer key services including a 32-slice CT scan, dialysis, laboratory services, and X-ray facilities.

The governor added that the hospital is expected to be formally turned over to the province by next month. Licensing procedures will be processed between September and October, with a soft opening targeted in the last week of October or the first week of November.

Once fully operational, the hospital will have a capacity of up to 300 beds and will cater to residents across all districts of Albay.

The hospital is considered a vital addition to the province’s healthcare system, aiming to provide accessible and quality medical services to Albayanos.
