Ang kanilang kabayanihan ay hindi lamang bahagi ng ating kasaysayan—ito ay paalala na ang pagmamahal sa bayan ay naipapakita sa gawa, malasakit, at paglilingkod sa kapwa.

Sa bawat Pilipinong tumutulong, naglilingkod, nagsasakripisyo at naninindigan para sa tama, patuloy na nabubuhay ang diwa ng kabayanihan.

Patuloy na makaaapekto sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon at Kanlurang Visayas ang Southwest Monsoon o Habagat ngayong Lunes, Agosto 31, habang nananatiling malayo sa kalupaan ng Pilipinas ang Tropical Depression “Pilandok,” ayon sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Ayon sa PAGASA, namataan ang sentro ng Pilandok sa layong 1,120 kilometro silangan ng Extreme Northern Luzon dakong alas-3 ng madaling-araw. Taglay nito ang lakas ng hanging aabot sa 55 kilometro bawat oras malapit sa sentro at pagbugsong hanggang 70 km/h.

Halos hindi gumagalaw ang bagyo habang nasa Philippine Sea, ngunit inaasahang patuloy nitong palalakasin ang Habagat na magdadala ng mga pag-ulan sa Luzon at kanlurang bahagi ng Visayas.

Hindi naman nakataas ang anumang Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal dahil maliit ang posibilidad na direktang tumama sa kalupaan ng bansa ang Pilandok. Inaasahang mananatili itong malayo sa Pilipinas at posibleng lumabas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) pagsapit ng Setyembre 2 o madaling-araw ng Setyembre 3.

𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗮 𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿

Batay sa forecast ng PAGASA, makararanas ng monsoon rains ang Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac at Pampanga, na maaaring magdulot ng flash flood at landslide lalo na sa mga lugar na makararanas ng matindi at matagal na pag-ulan.

Samantala, inaasahan ang mga paminsan-minsang pag-ulan sa nalalabing bahagi ng Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija at Bulacan.

Maaaring makaranas naman ng maulap na kalangitan, kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorms ang Metro Manila, CALABARZON, malaking bahagi ng Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan at Antique.

Sa iba pang bahagi ng Luzon, Negros Island Region at Western Visayas, inaasahan ang bahagyang maulap hanggang maulap na kalangitan na may isolated rainshowers o thunderstorms. Ganito rin ang kondisyon sa Mindanao at iba pang bahagi ng Visayas dahil sa localized thunderstorms.

𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀

Naglabas din ang PAGASA ng Orange Rainfall Warning para sa ilang bahagi ng Zambales, kabilang ang Santa Cruz, Candelaria at Masinloc, kung saan nagbabanta ang pagbaha.

Nasa Yellow Warning Level naman ang iba pang lugar sa Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac at Nueva Ecija dahil sa posibilidad ng pagbaha sa mga lugar na madaling bahain.

Pinapayuhan ang mga residente, lalo na ang mga nasa mabababang lugar at lugar na madaling magkaroon ng landslide, na manatiling alerto at patuloy na subaybayan ang mga abiso ng PAGASA at lokal na disaster risk reduction and management offices.

𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗴

Nagbabala rin ang PAGASA sa mapanganib na kondisyon ng karagatan. Maaaring umabot sa 4.5 metro ang taas ng mga alon sa kanlurang bahagi ng Babuyan Islands, kaya pinapayuhan ang mga marino at maliliit na sasakyang-dagat na huwag munang pumalaot sa mga apektadong karagatan.

Samantala, inaasahang patuloy na magdadala ng malalakas hanggang gale-force na bugso ng hangin ang Habagat sa malaking bahagi ng bansa ngayong araw.

Patuloy namang binabantayan ng PAGASA ang galaw at posibleng pagbabago sa lakas at direksiyon ng Pilandok, na maaari umanong bahagyang lumakas sa mga susunod na oras ngunit nananatiling mababa ang posibilidad na mag-landfall sa Pilipinas.

𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲
𝗚𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗹: 𝗟𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝟰:𝟭𝟲–𝟯𝟬

Jesus returns to Nazareth, enters the synagogue as was His custom, and reads from the prophet Isaiah:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.”
— Luke 4:18

Jesus declares that the Scripture is being fulfilled in their hearing. He proclaims a mission of hope, freedom, healing, and liberation—especially for the poor, the oppressed, and those in need.

However, when Jesus reminds the people that God's mercy also reaches outsiders, they become angry and reject Him. He then leaves Nazareth unharmed.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Today's Gospel reminds us that God's mission is not limited by familiarity, status, or boundaries. Sometimes the people closest to us may be the ones who find it hardest to recognize what God is doing in our lives.

Jesus calls us to become instruments of His mission: to bring hope to the discouraged, help to those in need, freedom to those burdened, and compassion to those who are often overlooked.

We do not need impressive words or extraordinary abilities. As St. Paul reminds us in today's first reading, our faith ultimately rests not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿:
Lord Jesus, fill me with Your Spirit. Help me to bring hope where there is despair, kindness where there is pain, and light where there is darkness. Give me courage to live Your Gospel even when I am misunderstood or rejected. May my words and actions become instruments of Your love. Amen.

MATNOG, Sorsogon - The afternoon sun begins its slow descent, washing the hills in a warm glow as a gentle breeze moves across the grass.

For a moment, there is little to hear but the wind.

From the elevated slopes of Ladladan Hills, the landscape stretches into the distance - a patchwork of green, rolling terrain and open sky, offering a view of Matnog far removed from the familiar images of beaches and boats.

It is a quieter side of a town better known for the sea.

Matnog has long drawn visitors to its beaches, islands and clear coastal waters. But as travelers look beyond the town’s established destinations, places such as Ladladan Hills are beginning to offer another reason to stay, explore and see Matnog from a different perspective.

Perched amid Matnog’s green landscape, Ladladan Hills provides visitors with a vantage point where the journey is as much about the scenery as the destination.

There are no waves crashing against the shore here. Instead, there are rolling hills, open spaces and a horizon that seems to invite visitors to pause.

For Mayor Bobet Lee Rodrigueza, the attraction is part of a larger effort to broaden Matnog’s tourism identity while ensuring that local communities benefit from the industry.

“Matnog is not only about the beaches. We have many natural attractions waiting to be discovered, and Ladladan Hills is one of them,” Rodrigueza said.

He said the municipality aims to develop tourism while protecting its natural resources and creating livelihood opportunities for residents.

The appeal of Ladladan Hills becomes particularly apparent late in the day.

As afternoon slips into evening, sunlight gradually softens across the landscape. The changing colors of the sky provide a natural backdrop for visitors who come to take photographs, spend time with family and friends, or simply watch the sunset in relative quiet.

The attraction is also associated with Camino Del Amor, another destination in the Sinalmacan-Paghuliran area, giving visitors another place to explore in Matnog’s growing tourism circuit.

But the charm of Ladladan Hills lies precisely in what it does not have.

There are no grand structures competing for attention. No elaborate entertainment is needed to fill the silence. The landscape itself becomes the attraction.

For a community whose tourism story has traditionally been told through its coastline, the hills offer a reminder that Matnog’s natural wealth extends beyond the water.

Its beaches may be the first stop for many visitors, but they need not be the last.

The growing interest in inland attractions such as Ladladan Hills also presents an opportunity for Matnog to spread the benefits of tourism to more communities while encouraging visitors to spend more time exploring the municipality.

That opportunity, however, comes with a responsibility to protect the very landscapes that make these places worth visiting.

Sustainable tourism, local livelihood and environmental protection must therefore remain part of the conversation as Matnog continues to welcome more visitors.

Because the real promise of Ladladan Hills is not simply another place to take a photograph.

It is another way of seeing Matnog.

Here, away from the rush of the beach and the movement of boats, the town slows down. The wind crosses the hills. The light fades over the horizon. And for those who have climbed high enough to watch it, Matnog reveals something its famous beaches cannot show - a quieter beauty that was there all along, waiting to be noticed.

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — Police recovered a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) during an intelligence-driven operation in Brgy. Pinamasagan, San Fernandor town in Camarines Sur early Saturday, August 29.

The device was found at about 7:15 a.m. by a joint team from the Camarines Sur 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Intelligence Unit, San Fernando Municipal Police Station, Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit (PECU), 9th Special Action Battalion, and the Philippine Army’s 9th Infantry Battalion.

Police said the suspected IED measured about seven inches in diameter and 10 inches in height. Also recovered were an approximately 11-meter stranded wire and a black bucket.

The items were secured for turnover to the PECU for examination and proper disposition in accordance with safety protocols.

PNP Bicol director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn G. Silvio directed the further strengthening of intelligence-led and preventive operations across Bicol, including improved information sharing and coordination with other law enforcement and security agencies.

A follow-up investigation is also underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the recovery and identify those responsible for the presence of the suspected explosive device.

Silvio reminded the public not to touch, move or approach any suspicious object believed to be an explosive.

Such incidents should immediately be reported to the nearest police station or appropriate authorities.

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V has received a reach truck donated by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to strengthen the agency’s capacity to handle and distribute relief supplies during disasters and emergencies.

The equipment was formally turned over on Friday, August 28, at the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) Albay Warehouse, according to DSWD Bicol.

WFP Programme Associate Herlyn Orosca led the turnover of the reach truck, which DSWD said is the first reach truck fully owned by the agency.

The equipment is expected to improve the handling, storage and movement of relief goods inside the warehouse, allowing the agency to manage supplies more efficiently, particularly during large-scale disaster response operations.

The latest donation adds to the equipment previously provided by WFP to DSWD Bicol, including a forklift, a prefabricated container and a mobile kitchen.

These facilities and equipment have supported the agency’s disaster response operations in the region over the past year.

DSWD Bicol said the continued partnership with WFP, facilitated through its Disaster Response Management Division under Regional Director Norman S. Laurio, is aimed at further strengthening the agency’s ability to manage and mobilize relief resources.

DSWD Bicol said the improved warehouse capacity will be particularly important during emergencies when affected communities require immediate assistance.

The initiative is being undertaken under the guidance of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen partnerships that can contribute to faster and more efficient disaster response operations.

Ang gout ay sanhi ng pag-iipon ng uric acid crystals sa mga kasukasuan, at ang paulit-ulit na pag-atake ay maaaring makasira sa joints at kidneys. Ang mga gamot na nagpapababa ng uric acid, gaya ng allopurinol, ay may mas matibay na ebidensiya para sa long-term management.

Kung umiinom ka na ng gamot para sa gout o may kidney disease, kumonsulta muna sa doktor bago regular na gumamit ng pansit-pansitan o anumang herbal supplement.

Ang kakaibang desisyon niya ay umani ng reaksiyon online at nagbukas ng diskusyon tungkol sa epekto ng unemployment sa mental well-being at sa kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng trabaho—kahit anuman ang posisyon.

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay - Market vendors and other self-employed workers in the informal sector were given easier access to Social Security System (SSS) services as the SSS Legazpi Branch held its second SSS Palengke Caravan at the Daraga Public Market.

The caravan was conducted at the third floor of the public market to allow vendors and other workers to avail themselves of SSS services without having to leave their businesses or visit an SSS branch during regular working hours.

Among the services provided were SSS number issuance, My.SSS registration and account resetting, Payment Reference Number (PRN) generation, salary and pension loan applications, loan restructuring, disbursement account enrollment, benefit claims, member data changes, and issuance of forms.

SSS personnel also assisted participants with their inquiries regarding membership, contributions, loans, and benefits.

The agency said the activity forms part of its efforts to reach workers in the informal sector who may have difficulty accessing government services because of their work schedules.

For self-employed workers and market vendors, SSS membership provides access to social protection benefits in cases of sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, and funeral expenses, subject to applicable eligibility requirements and contribution records.

The SSS Legazpi Branch urged vendors and other self-employed individuals who are not yet members to register with the agency and encouraged existing members to keep their contributions updated.

The agency said bringing its services directly to markets and other community areas is intended to make social security more accessible and convenient to workers, particularly those whose livelihoods depend on daily income.

The second SSS Palengke Caravan is part of the agency’s continuing efforts to expand its reach among workers in the informal sector and encourage them to participate in the country’s social security program.
