𝐆𝐂𝐂𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭

Three intervention programs, Academic Recovery & Accessible Learning Program (ARAL), Numeracy Improvement through Intensified Remediation on Operational Numbers & Integers (NumIIRO), and Literacy Intervention Strategies & Teaching Optimization (LISTO), were announced during the Gregorio C. Catenza National High School's Orientation Meeting with parents with the goal to inform them of the activities their children will be part of this October- December 2025.

GCCNHS held an orientation meeting informing parents of the many intervention programs that aim to help students who are behind in their level of literacy and numeracy, and the number of students who are listed under these programs. "Nagpapasalamat ako kay your presence means you support" says School Principal Evangeline C. Mercado.

LISTO aims to help students improve reading comprehension and critical thinking/ problem solving skills, NumIIRO aims to help students catch up and and improve their numeracy, and ARAL aims to help students learn how to read and to ease their difficulty in reading.

All the students from grade 7 to 10 were given tests, assessing their skills as to who may need guidance and in which program would best help them improve.

Over 1000 were discovered having trouble in either literacy and numeracy, or both.

These students will be placed in either of these three programs to help them improve and learn valuable skills, starting this October and ending on December.

Master Teacher II Randy G Chavez, proponent of the NumIIRO program, Teacher III Ma. Irene L. Tañala, and De. Paul Juurey Toyong all explained that if some students fail to improve, then they will continue in the programs next year starting on January 2026.

The teachers emphasized that these programs are mostly volunteer work, with no additional pay to any of their salaries. Each teacher who are part of the programs are willing volunteers which is why the teachers asks the parents to take part in helping their children's education.

"Ngatanan kita may responsibilidad" says Mrs. Evangeline Mercado as she asks for the parents to help by countersigning their child's notebook and keeping track of the activities they've done.

After the program, the parents line up to sign the parent's consent forms and to see which programs their child belong in.

Both teachers and parents have high hopes for these programs to help in honing the children's skills and to lessen the number of struggling students in literacy and numeracy.

𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗔𝗟 | Kakulangang Di Mapunan-punan

Kasabay ng paglago ng populasyon ng bansa ang dumarami ring bilang ng mga kakulangan partikular na sa sektor ng edukasyon. Nakakadismaya mang isipin ngunit ito ang katotohan, MARAMING KULANG, lalo na sa mga silid-aralang dapat sana'y lugar na kanilang magiging pangalawang tahanan.

Ang mga kakulangang ito sa silid-aralan ay matagal na rin namang maingay na usapin, ngunit bakit kaya hanggang ngayon ay di pa rin ito masolusyonan? Kaakibat ng mataas na bilang ng kakulangan sa mga silid-aralan ang ilan pang lumalalang krisis sa edukasyon ng bansa.

Sa pagdami ng mga mag-aaral, dumarami rin ang pangangailangan sa mga silid-aralan kaya't dumarami rin ang bilang ng kakulangan. Ayon nga Department of Education (DepEd), mayroong bilang na 165, 443 na kakulangan sa silid-aralan sa mga pampublikong paaralan. Patunay lamang ang bilang na ito kung gaano na kalala ang krisis na di matapos-tapos.

Maliban sa kakulangan sa mga silid-aralan, ang bilang din ng mga batang hindi marunong bumasa ang isa pang problemang patuloy na lumalala. Sa ulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ay umabot na sa kabuuang 18.96 milyong mag-aaral na natapos sa Junior at Senior High School noong 2024 ang hindi marunong bumasa.

Karapatan ng mga kabataan ang makapag-aral kung kaya't dapat lamang na matugunan na ang matagal nang mga kakulangang di mapunan-punan sa bansa. Kailangang paglaanan ng pondo ang mga suliraning ito at ituring na prayoridad dahil hindi lamang ang NGAYON ang maaapektuhan ng krisis na ito kundi maging ang SUSUNOD ding mga henerasyon. Prayoritahin ang EDUKASYON para sa maayos at maunlad na NASYON.

𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗔𝗟 | ‎Hindi Katanggap-tanggap

Umingay ang usapin sa mga pondong inilaan sa mga flood control projects sa bansa lalo pa at tila parang bula na lamang itong naglaho at iilan lamang sa mga ito ang matagumpay na naipatayo. Hindi katanggap-tanggap na tila ninakaw hindi lang ang pondo kundi maging ang serbisyo na rin na para sana sa mga Pilipino.

Ang mga flood control projects na ito ay mga proyektong ipinatayo upang sana'y mabawasan ang epekto ng madalas na pag-ulan sa bansa na nagdudulot ng mga pagbaha. Ito ang mga proyektong aasahan sana lalo na sa panahon ng mga kalamidad, ngunit paano mangyayari kung naibulsa na ang mga pondong inilaan para rito.

Ayon nga sa Department of Budget and Management (DBM), mula pa raw noong 2022 ay nakapaglaan na raw ang bansa ng mahigit 545.64 bilyong piso para sa mga proyektong ito. Patunay lamang kung gaano na karaming pondo ang nasayang dahil kahit gaano naman kadami ang pondong inilaan para rito ay halos iilan lang naman ang natatapos sa mga ito.

Isa ang proyekto sa Kennon Road, sa Tuba, Benguet, ang may nakakadismayang resulta, dahil sa kabila ng 264 milyong pondong inilaan dito nauna pa rin itong gumuho kesa mapakinabangan. Nakakagalit kung iisipin lalo pa't pera ng bayan ang siyang pinagmulan ng mga pondong ito, at kahit gaano pa kalaki ito, bakas pa rin ang ginawang pagnanakaw lalo na sa mga proyektong natapos nga di naman napakinabangan.

Naglabas din ng saloobin ang ating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at tinawag pang "useless" and mga perang inilaan sa naturang proyekto, patunay lamang kung gaano na kalaki at kalala ang problemang ito. Lubos ang pangangailangan sa mga proyekto kung kaya't ganoon na rin kalaki ang pondong inilalaan para rito lalo pa't inulat ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) na mayroong 20 lugar sa bansa na kabilang sa mga flood at landslide prone areas.

Sa kabuuan, tunay ngang hindi katanggap-tangap ang ginawa nila sa mga pondong inilaan lalo at hindi naman ito nagamit ng mga mamamayang dapat sana ay nakikinabang. Dapat lamang na maimbistigahan ang mga namuno sa proyektong ito at malaman kung saan napunta ang pondo dahil hindi lamang pera ng bayan ang kanilang ninakaw kundi maging ang kaligtasan na rin ng mga mamamayan.

These are the reassuring words parents long to hear for their children at the Gregorio C. Catenza National High School (GCCNHS). This reassurance is now delivered automatically through Project ASSETS (Automated SMS-based Student Enhanced Tracking System)

Parents should no longer wonder if their children reach school safely. With Project ASSETS, the system records student's attendance and would immediately send an SMS notification to parents or guardians.

Every time a student enters the school, their ID is scanned and their attendance is recorded in the system. Within seconds, a text message is sent to the parent or guardian to confirm that their child is already in the school. The same process when the student leaves, ensuring parents are informed immediately.

For teachers, Project ASSETS is a time saver. Instead of calling out names one by one, they can now start lessons right away. The system records who's present, saving time and can be less hassle for teachers. A one-time consuming task is now done in seconds with Project ASSETS.

Of course, there are times when the system faces small challenges. A weak signal, mistyped number or any minor error can cause delay in sending text messages. But the schools take this situation seriously, working to fix problems quickly.

𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 | ‎The Call to Cease Corruption

On September 21, 2025, Sunday, rallies and protestors will flood the Luneta and the EDSA People Power Monument due to the corruption that's been frustratingly happening in the Philippines. It is the time for Filipinos to voice our outrage and waken the corrupts who's long slept with corruption.

₱1.9 trillion have been spent for flood controls over the past 15 years that's the half of it were allegedly lost to corruption, which driven the protestors to unite for rally due to the corrupt's irresponsibility.

"Baha Sa Luneta: Aksyon na Laban Sa Korapsyon" or the "Bilyon People March" will be held at Luneta on 9:00 AM that consists of university students and activist groups. Their freedom to speak for their right to protest should be seen as a silver lining to cease corruption and impurity of the government.

"Trillion Peso March" protestors will take place at People Power Monument (EDSA corner white Plains Avenue, Quezon, City) at 2:00 PM with the Catholic and Protestant Leaders under the Church Leaders Council for National Transformation (CLCNT). The involvement of religious groups is a sign that this frustrating corruption scandal is a serious matter that must end.

Both rally teams are happening within the same day of September 21, 2025. They also urge the participants to wear white t-shirt as a symbol of unity and hope which is a great dress code to showcase that Filipinos unite due to their zeal to cease wrong doings of politicians and seeks hope for the country's change.

Student regent Dexter Clemente of University of the Philippines (UP) remarked that, "...Lets us call out and condemn the politicians and contractors who wear different colors but worship the color of money, who steal our people's money." The politicians' idolatry for money that leads to corruption is something that's unforgivable.

Not only because of corruption, but they also protest to "ensure that the same deception, abuses, and plunder are never repeated." We hope that the Philippines will soon leave the tight grip and grasp of the corrupt government that's been drowning not with flood, but by the pleasure of enormous money in their pockets.

Politicians who's long slept with corruption should be waken with the people's voice. These rallies are a reminder that Filipinos will not remain silent and will truly raise voices for a call to cease corruption.
