Being part of 'The Echo' is both an answered question and an opportunity for me. An answer to the younger version of me who's always been curious about how it feels to be a campus journalist, despite failing in her trials and eventually stopping pursuit of it. And an opportunity for my present self that has paved my way to grow holistically as a student who doesn't just listen to what she hears, but rather someone who upholds and delivers the truth.

Joining the competition has been remarkable and has led me to experience new things that may be embarrassing to some, but for me, it's a story I'll surely tell everyone about how this organization has become my supporter and motivator to move forward. I remember crying while writing my article during a competition; I was devastated because I didn't get the chance to arrive on time due to obstacles that came in our way. As I sat there quietly, saying I no longer want to continue, and go to the contest proper as I haven't witnessed the match that is nessceary for my article, fearing it would lead the people around me dissapointed. However, The Echo, a family to meโ€” gave me the courage to step out even I have my lingering doubts to continue.

That one occurence happened, an event I will not forget in my life truly made it special. Reminding me about the true meaning of resilience โ€” amisdt of the challenges and self doubt. The words and warmth I received from The Echo gave me the strength to keep going.

Being in this organization inspires me to push my limits to the fullest, to believe that there's resiliency in every story. As a part of the present generation of The Echo in writing every news that upholds truth relevant in our society, this organization became my vessel to serve, and not to be served.

Managing Editor (2023 - 2024)
Radio Broadcaster (2033 - 2026

I am Prince Jellian Vargas, Former Managing Editor, and the current Associate Editor of 'The Echo'.
I Joined the School Publication when I was in Grade 9 and to be honest, I don't know why I joined the school publication. I don't know what I'm going to do. I just auditioned for radio broadcasting because they said my voice is modulated and deep. But when I joined The Echo, I didn't regret that I joined in this School Publication. It boosted my confidence to speak in front of a lot of people.

I remember when we did a seminar training at Pamukid National High School, there was something ringing in the ears of those who attended the training when the facilitator give us a task to do a script for broadcasting at that time, we had no idea what brand or product we would put on the time check. And out of nowhere I said "What if Jumbo hotdog nalang" and they all agreed, when we're performing and the time that I said " this time check was brought to you by Jumbo Hotdog kagat na! " they laughed and they repeating it after the seminar, as a first timer it was so embarassing and I think I was so dumb that time but now, when i imagining it I was so happy that I made a mark as the echo radio broadcasting team was identify.

As of now, I am happy and grateful what I am doing and they give to me right now and I'm thankful to others for trusting and supporting me in this kind of thing, and I am thankful to our adviser Ma'am Joy M. Brioso for guiding us always by doing our tasks.

Joining The Echo was more than just a significant opportunity for me; it was a long-held dream finally came to be true. I've always been passionate about journalism, but fate seemed to have other plans. In elementary school, I was unfortunate enough to be selected as a journalist, perhaps due to my abilities or simply not being the favored candidate. This experience left a lasting impression, that haunts me in deep, and when I entered high school, I felt hesitant to try again, fearing rejection based on my name or abilities.

However, I pushed past those doubts. It all began with regular attendance in my specialization class, a requirement for students like me. And then, surprisingly, I found my name on the list of selected members. I didn't expect to make it, but I succeeded. Within The Echo, I discovered a new home, a second family.

The Echo isn't just a publication it's my sanctuaryโ€” my second home. Where it taught me the significance of truthโ€” it travels far beyond and make a difference. Sharing stories that matters and reverberates.

Mr. FRANCIS CHARLES D. BRIOSO

School Paper Adviser (2016-2018)

My journey as a school paper adviser started with a lot of intimidation. I worried about navigating the complexities of freedom of expression while also ensuring responsible reporting. It was a steep learning curve, but through every editorial meeting and every published piece, I learned to champion the truth and stand against the pervasive tide of misinformation. This role wasn't just about grammar and deadlines; it was about empowering young voices to speak up, to question, and to inform.

Beyond the written word, I also witnessed the transformative power of radio broadcasting. Seeing shy students blossom into confident public speakers, their voices resonating with clarity and conviction over the airwaves, was incredibly rewarding. It highlighted how different mediums can build crucial skills, proving that journalism, in all its forms, is a vital tool for student development.

Staff Writer (2023-2024)

The Echo has been half of me. As i entered my junior high, The Echo welcomed me. I became one of it. It was a very very great journey. I made some great friends. The Echo wasn't just a Organization or a Publication, its a family. A big family. It was my safe place, it helped me out to step out in my comfort zone.

I started being a journalist in The Echo with lack of knowledgeโ€”yet, thanks to Our Adviser, Ma'am Joy Brioso who guided us throughout the school year and especially to our EIC, Darius, who became our support system whenever we are struggling & doubting ourselves. Our adviser and EIC was there for us and i am very much thankful.

One of the best moments during my journey with the The Echo was when we competed Congressional District Press Conference. It was one of my memorable experience in The Echo. I was nervous competing against the other schools. We stayed out late & tired but it was all worth it. Most of us won and it was the happiest. I didn't won but i learned something, i need more practice. Maybe in the right time, i will.

I didn't compete because i needed to, maybe i do but it wasn't the main reason. I competed because it was my passion, writing was my passion. I learned how to voice out my thoughts, my opinion and how to also voice out their ideas. I learned the importance of hardwork and patience. You have to be tough, battling using our pen isn't enough, you have to gain knowledge & u need patience practicing your skills and practice writing what and how you feel.

as a former 'Column Writer' In The Echo, I am forever grateful to those people who supported me through my journey as a journalist in The Echo. And i am honored that i became part of the student's school publicatio. As i look back through my journey, in my most silent days, I miss The Echo a little louder. The Echo was my everything back then, My co-journalists knew it. Now, The Echo shaped me who i am now. I will forever carry and cherish the memories, the friendship and all the hardships we made. I must say, The Echo is something you have to be proud of, and i believe that current and future members will have much more great experience through their journey.

Ms. SHAME MHIEL F. SUAN
Radiobroadcaster (2023-2025)

โ€ŽThroughout my junior high school years, one of the most meaningful experiences Iโ€™ve had was being part of our student publication, The Echo. It wasnโ€™t just an extracurricular activityโ€”it became a home, a place where I learned and met some of the most inspiring people Iโ€™ve ever known. The memories I made and the lessons I gained will always hold a special place in my heart.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽWhen I first joined The Echo back in 2022, I wasnโ€™t sure where the path would lead me. But as time went by, I realized that I had found a family. I met Ma'am Joy, our School Paper Adviser, who taught me how to be a good journalist. She became my support system every time I doubted myself. I also met amazing people who became my friendsโ€”people who helped me grow and supported me in every way they could.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽOne of the highlights of my journey in The Echo was being part of the radio broadcasting team. At first, I was nervous, unsure if I had the voice or confidence for it. But with guidance, practice, and the constant support of those around me, I discovered a new side of myself. I learned how to communicate clearly, work as part of a team, and think quickly under pressure. Competing and collaborating in radio broadcasting not only improved my skills, but also helped me find my voiceโ€”literally and figuratively.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThrough the ups and downs, I learned the value of hard work and teamwork. We celebrated every issue released, every award won, and every challenge we overcame together. The late-night practices, the shared snacks during training days, and the laughter in between made everything worth it.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽLooking back, I am forever grateful to have been part of the student publication. It shaped a big part of who I am today. It gave me confidence, taught me responsibility, and allowed me to build friendships that Iโ€™ll always cherish. As I move forward, Iโ€™ll carry with me the voice I found, the stories I told, and the memories I made during those unforgettable years.
