My anak was scratched by a kitten—on her face. (And it's a CATEGORY III exposure

Rabies is no joke. Whether it's a bite or just a scratch, it can still transmit the virus. Many people think only bites are dangerous, but even a scratch—especially if the skin is broken—can be risky.
👉 Here’s what you should do immediately if scratched or bitten by a cat or dog:
Wash the wound right away with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes. This helps reduce the risk of infection.
Avoid covering the wound tightly—let it breathe while you seek medical help.
Go to the nearest Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) as soon as possible.
Do not wait for symptoms to appear. Rabies can be deadly once symptoms show.
Observe the animal (if possible) for 10 days. If it shows signs of illness or cannot be observed, vaccination should not be delayed.
✅ Even kittens and puppies can carry rabies—don't take chances.
Your safety and your loved ones’ lives are worth the immediate action. Be safe. Be informed. Rabies is 100% fatal, but also 100% preventable.
