Join KALALAUDAN STREET DANCING 2025!

Kalalaudan Street Dancing 2025 is open to all residents of the Municipality of Linapacan. This will be a showcase of the rich culture of Linapacan's different ethnolinguistic groups, all united as one Linapacan, enjoined to strengthen and highlight Linapacano's culture within the scope of intercultural convergence.
This year, each contingent will prepare two (2) kinds of performances:
1. Warm-up Piece - which will be performed on the street using only light hand props (e.g., bolos, ugsang, fans, baskets, spears, bow and arrow and the like); and
2. Main Piece - or full performance which will be performed at the Municipal Ground.
For the computation of the FINAL SCORE, forty percent (40%) will be derived from the Warm-Up Piece while sixty percent (60%) will be from the Main Piece.
MECHANICS & GUIDELINES
-Each contingent shall have a minimum of twenty five (25) and maximum of forty (40) performers including dancers, musicians, support staff, props men and guidon bearer who will carry the banner of placard identifying the group. Props men should wear black shirt and black pants. Support staff who assist the participants during costume change should also wear black pants and black shirts. The names of the dancers, musicians, support staff, props men and guidon bearer must be submitted to the organizers. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE SAID REQUIREMENTS WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC DEDUCTION OF 1 POINT FROM THE FINAL SCORE.
-Each entry must submit a completely filled-up entry form, accompanied by signed waivers from parents/guardians, for all participants.
-The choreography should depict customs, traditions, or way of life (e.g. bountiful harvests, weddings, etc.) of any ethnolinguistic group in Linapacan such as Tagbanua, Cuyonon & Agutaynen. The important criterion is the authenticity of the performance based on cultural research.
-Choreography must remain wholesome and appropriate at all times.
Choreography in the street of field presentation must not endanger any of the participants or audience. Raising, lifting or tossing of persons by another person higher than two (2) persons is discouraged. Aerial stunts are not allowed.
-Participants are allowed to enhance the base music using any other native instruments, provided that the base beat with all its elements are present and remain unaltered. Performers should primarily anchor in promoting Linapacan culture, dances, or its significance in intercultural convergence. Only live music will be allowed during the street dancing and presentation. However, amplification is highly encouraged during the performance.
-The criteria for the music shall include authentic rhythm, tradition/customs, creativity, dynamics and melody composition. Songs and chants may also be used.
-As for the production, every group must showcase the culture of the ethnolinguistic group of their choice through use of design, motif, images, materials and textiles of their culture. It should also reflect their own environment, creativity with originality, and dynamic use of basic design principles like harmony, balance, composition, contrast, focus and variation level.
-The costumes are left to the sound discretion of the contingents, but the use of endemic and indigenous materials is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.
-Props must not include live animals, pyro techniques, slippery materials (oil or water) and dangerous or live weapons.
-The use of confetti, party poppers, balloons, livestock or animals, weapons or dangerous materials and confetti are strictly prohibited.
-Back drops, raisers, big props and paraphernalia will be used ONLY during the MAIN PIECE PERFORMANCE to be held at Municipal ground. The props must not be higher than 12 feet tall.
-Each group shall be assigned a number by means of draw lots which shall be the basis for the sequence of parade and presentation. To ensure proper identification, contingent's name must be printed in a placard or signage as props visible to the viewing public during parade and presentation for proper identification.
-Every group or contingent shall provide the committee with 9 copies of their synopsis and a complete list of participants for the judges reference. Deadline of submission is on May 5, 2025. Failure to comply with the said requirements will result in an automatic deduction of 1 point from the final score.
-Contingents should also observe the time limit which is a maximum of twenty (20) minutes and a minimum of five (5) minutes performance, including the reading of synopsis, setting of props, entrance and exit of participants.
-Time is counted at the start of synopsis reading and it ends at the first step of exit.
-The timer on stage will raise a white flag to signal the start of the performance as well as to signal the 10th minute. The timer will then raise the red flag to signal (2) minutes before the maximum time limit ends.
-Each contingent shall designate its own timer to coordinate with the time director.
-One (1) point for every thirty (30) second overtime will be deducted from the total score in the performance. Stage timer shall advise and announce the result of the time consumed.
-In cases not covered by the rules and regulations, the Judging Committee is authorized to promulgate the decision.
-Ranking shall be based on computed grand total average scores. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
-Awarding of prizes will be done during the closing ceremonies which is on May 23, 2025 at Municipal Port, Barangay San Miguel Linapacan, Palawan.
GUIDELINES FOR JUDGING
-There will be two (2) judging areas.

2. Municipal Port (Main piece) -60%
-Securities will maintain a 10-meter gap from each contingent.
-The judges will employ a point system.
-In case of a tie, that contingent that gets the greatest number of higher ranks will be declared as the frontrunner.
-Failure to comply with any of the guidelines will result in an automatic deduction of 1 point from the final score.
-The decision of the judges is final and unappealable.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRAINERS/COACHES of CONTINGENTS
