Lipa City honors Canossian athletes

Lipa City recognized 16 Canossian athletes on March 16 for their commendable performance at the Regional Athletic Association Meet 2026.

During the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Lipa City Hall, Mayor Eric B. Africa presented the winning athletes with certificates of recognition and cash incentives, stating in his speech that continuing to support them is crucial in encouraging ambition in the youth. He stated, “Hindi makukuha ang gold medal kung hindi tayo magtutulungan lahat,” reinforcing the importance of team effort in achieving continued excellence.

Mayor Africa praised the athletes present at the event for brining honor to not only their families or districts, but the entire city. The Canossa Academy Secondary Boys Volleyball Team won gold after a straight–6 win streak, while Margaret Louise Luna and Megan Yesha Hernandez from the Secondary Volleyball Team Girls grabbed silver on Lipa’s RAAM lineup. The school swimmers swept silver, with Kirsten Gutierrez competing in 50m free style swimming and Aisha Lorin Estioco in 4x50 Medley Secondary Girls Relay.

The winnings of these dedicated Canossians, along with other school athletes, contributed to Lipa City‘s placement as 9th out of 20 cities. Through their commitment to their sport and rigorous hours of training, they reaped a high reward that brings pride to the city.

40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution: Commemorating a Movement of Justice

Today marks one of the most defining moments in Philippine history—a remembrance of the powerful fight for freedom that occurred on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue. The EDSA People Power Revolution’s 40th anniversary pays homage to the valiant Filipinos involved in the series of political demonstrations that occurred from February 22 to 25, 1986, marking an end to the 20-year regime of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

This powerful yet peaceful movement was the aftermath of countless life-threatening human rights abuses carried out by the administration, enabled by the oppressive Martial Law. Following the assassination of Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., countless yellow ribbons during the demonstrations symbolized the Filipinos’ dissent to the treacherous crime, dubbing the movement the “Yellow Revolution.” This was an homage to the song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree" by Tony Orlando and Dawn—a powerful symbol of democracy, making the song the anthem against the dictatorship.

The 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution is a call to action for every Filipino to defend righteousness in the midst of rampant unjust practices affecting our nation. The demonstrations that happened during 1986 remind us that we too, through non-violent methods, can speak up and fight for what is right.

RECAP: School Fair Day 3

The Canossian school fair concluded on February 15 at the school campus with a High Mass, dance presentations across levels, and the Gala concert, uniting students, guests, and community members.

During the celebration of the mass, Rev. Fr. Aren Bejasa, OSJ, delivered a homily to draw the community to reflect on the importance of relationships between parents and their children, especially during their teenage years and the changes that are yet to come. The message highlighted Family Day as an opportunity for students and parents to strengthen their love for one another.

Following the Mass, the grade school learners enticed the crowd through a Field Demonstration, a performance of each grade level that showcased decades of dance from the 1960s to the present. The performances exhibited creative interpretations of the songs that generations loved through time.

The High School Cheer Dance Competition across levels, reprising performances from the Intramurals further stimulated the crowd’s excitement and entertainment. This showed the teamwork and school spirit of each grade level and was concluded with the performances of the Champions from both the Junior Division and Senior Division.

As the day progressed, families and guests explored the booths one last time before the Gala Concert, which was conducted in the Fernanda Riva Gymnasium at 6 PM. The concert titled “Sining, Indak, and Awit” featured The Dance Movers, Canossa Little Voices, Canossa Glee Club, Theater Arts Club, and Canossa Dance Company proudly representing a variety of Philippine culture in a glamorous display.

With these closing events, the school fair left behind shared experiences and lasting memories, marking another strengthening of the Canossian community and culture.

RECAP: School Fair Day 2

The second day of the school fair marked a meaningful celebration on February 14. Cheers erupted, voices soared, and school pride surged across the campus in the featured events: The Voice of S.M.A.R.T Canossian 2026, Inter-Varsity Tune-Up Games, and Sining, Indak, at Awit.

The singing competition showcased the vocal talents of selected students from grades four to six, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of supporters and spectators. “One of the biggest challenges we faced was managing the time and aligning everyone’s schedules, especially with rehearsals and the number of participants,” shared Miss Nicole Abcede, one of the coordinators of the Singing Contest. Despite these challenges, the event unfolded successfully through the cooperation of students, teachers, and organizers. It concluded with the recognition of the top performers across the intermediate levels.

In the showcase court of skills, the matches between Canossa Lipa, Canossa Sta. Rosa, and Canossa San Pablo in basketball and volleyball league highlighted the year’s school fair theme "CAsama sa Pag-ibig: Canossian Mode On". With every team displaying true Canossian values, unity and mutual respect ruled the court. The rankings were identical for both basketball and volleyball leagues. Canossa Lipa recorded a victory as the champion, Canossa San Pablo held the title of first runner-up, and Canossa Sta. Rosa claimed the second-runner up spot.

The day culminated in the school fair concert, “Sining, Indak, at Awit” at the gymnasium, with high spirits and invaluable joy. Performances by the Canossa Dance Company, Canossa Glee Club, Theater Arts of the High School Department, together with the Dance Movers, and Canossa Little Voices of the Grade School Department showcased the art of old, classic tunes and modern rhythms. They filled the stage with energy, passion, and artistry that captivated the audience.

With talents recognized, games won, and performances celebrated, the second day of the school fair wrapped up as a true showcase of Canossian skill, spirit, talents, and joy.

RECAP: School Fair Day 1

The Canossa Educative Community (CEC) officially welcomed the annual three-day fair with a high mass at the Mo. Fernanda Gym, immediately followed by the Opening Salvo where staff members, teachers, the Canossian Dance Company and the Drum & Lyre Squad, comprised of grade school and high school students performed.

Additionally, the CEC highly anticipated two major contests: The Voice of S.M.A.R.T Canossians, a competition comprised of the Pre-school and Primary pupils, who sang 'A World on Fire' and 'A Million Dreams,'
and Dance Craze, the finals of an inter-division competition of exceptional dance performances. Winners were announced soon after the contest ended.

A variety of booths made the school fair grounds exciting, while the Caterpillar and Viking rides complement the already cheery atmosphere.
