breaking my year-long hiatus with this painting of boljoon's famous rock formation 🪨🌊

i've been livin' in a paradise for almost a year now but i haven't really been able to sit down and make beautiful art inspired by what i see around me. but today i felt ✨inspired ✨ like i really needed to hold my brush or else i won't be sane lol. again and again— cebu, you're so beautiful! 💗

𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸? i started getting serious about art when i was 15 and it was on and off since. i was taking a degree in architecture so i still get to make art but with more technicalities involved. but i wasn't really able to make any good and finished artwork outside the premise of school. in the back of my mind, all i know is if i give up on life, i'd sell paintings then. lol. i realized that it's actually what i wanted (not just a backup plan); to make art and for people to appreciate what i do that they wanna buy it. so i get back on my drawing board, invest on new art materials and build up my portfolio. but there's this pressure when you want to monetize your passion i guess. and i'm not yet confident in the art works i produce. i know i'm still too far from the artist i wanna become. so i'm just writing this as a reminder, that my journey was just starting and i'm gonna get better if i practice every day. talent means nothing without practice and hard work.

you don't have to be good at it to enjoy it. make art that makes your heart happy.

here's my biggest commissioned work so far!!! i was so excited to accept this work bc aside from it's challenging for me, there's also cute cat there! 😍 i am so happy how this turned out and also grateful for being trusted on a big project like this.

summer dance —²⁰²²

this was my last beach trip before the pandemic lockdown, i was heartbroken and crazy about what i'm gonna do since i'm done with college. i enjoyed every bit of that beach trip with my friends. the following days and weeks ahead that i was isolated made me realize, i wish i did more of that cuz i might never get the chance again, i might never gonna dance again.

archbishop's house—²⁰²²

there's something about brick buildings that really catches the eye, maybe it's the texture or the color, or maybe it's the history behind. as an arki student, i have always been curious how they built buildings like this during spanish colonial times. the history may not be as pretty as the buildings we see nowadays, i hope it reminds us that the freedom we have now is more than the people who built these had.
