๐ฆ๐๐ก๐ข? ๐ฆ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ก๐ข | The VISION's Assoc Ed named as the nest's new Editor-in-Chief
The student publication remains in good hands as incoming third-year Bachelor of Secondary Education - Major in English student and The VISIONโs former Associate Editor, Jayven R. Magsino, superseded former chief editor, Mr. Joe Vincent M. Fernandez, as the new Editor-in-Chief for Editorial Year 2025-2026.
Magsino secured the spot after outpacing a tight editorial examination race over six fellow challengers, topping the list as the next EIC, as assessed by the Selection Board, headlined by Fernandez, former Chief Artist, Mr. Rhenber Hian B. Morada, and the publicationโs adviser, Mr. Cris Paulo F. Sabillo, who collectively conceived Magsinoโs appointment from his combined overall aggregated scores from written and technical examinations, interview phases, and watchful deliberations of the concluded Tigpรด: The VISION Group of Publications Executive Editorial Board Examination last June 30-July 1.
The results were released on July 11 during The VISIONโs inaugural Annual Strategic Planning, Editorial Transition and Turnover (ASPETT), seconded by a ceremonial oath of executive office, flagging the windup of the editorial transition and turnover.
Last year, Fernandez appointed Magsino to be the Associate Editor of his third term after making waves in his debut in the Regional and Luzon-wide Higher Education Press Conferences, where he was hailed as Region IV-Aโs 2nd best campus journalist after seizing three massive wins in individual writing categories, catapulting him to the Luzon-wide tilt.
The former junior photojournalist also served as the lead operator of The VISIONโs documentary entry in the 9th I-Documento for the 15th National Campus Media Conference and 2nd International Media Research Conference, where the entry dubbed โA.I. Naku!โ was hailed as the countryโs 2nd best.
Recently, Magsino reclaimed his title as the third-best Development Communication writer in the region, while placing 10th in Editorial tilt. He has also helped the publication achieve its comeback glory in both newsletter and tabloid issues in both regional and Luzon-wide press tilts.
Magsinoโs ascent from being a photojournalist in high school to a writer in college was the result of a methodical pondering due to the lack of writers in his competitive journalism debut. In his capacity, he emerged victorious in several writing ventures, including News, Editorial, and Development Communication Writing, respectively, while co-leading various press activities and roles in his second year with the publication.
The new EIC officially began his executive leadership last July 12, alongside four more executive leaders, who are expected to remain at the helm until July next year.
In pursuit of press freedom, we remain beyond journalism.
