NEWS | CEIS Conducts Mandatory Earthquake Drill Amidst Rising Cases of Earthquakes in the Country
Centro Escolar Integrated School (CEIS) took part in the mandatory earthquake drill conducted on October 13, 2025, at 8:30 am, following the instructions mandated by the Malolos City’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).
CDRRMC has instructed the mandatory earthquake drill in all educational institutions in the City of Malolos following the multiple earthquakes felt in various parts of the country, including a magnitude 5.0 earthquake that struck Cabangan, in Zambales, and was experienced in numerous areas of Bulacan. The purpose of this drill is to further strengthen awareness regarding the series of earthquakes that have been ravaging the country in the past few days.
The drill began with a buzzing alarm, wherein students and faculty employees followed the actions typically done during an earthquake, to “drop, cover, and hold.” Afterward, the students and teachers went out of their respective classrooms and formed lines. Subsequently, they walked calmly to the parking lot since it is an open area, and is considered one of the safest places where people can avoid debris from damaged structures.
As a result of the disasters occurring all over the country, Filipinos are being affected by posts on social media that argue these earthquakes are all connected. However, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) clarified that the past earthquakes are not connected in any way , as they originated from different fault lines.
In addition, PHIVOLCS stated that multiple earthquakes happen in the Philippines every day, but not all of them are strong enough to be felt by humans.
While Filipinos should not necessarily live in fear due to the rampant earthquakes, the local Malolos government encourages them to stay alert and prepared amidst all of the calamities.
