It was my first time experiencing the Binirayan Festival in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique, and every moment felt deeply meaningful. What stood out the most was the Pasundayag, where each town proudly showcased its local products, creativity, and identity, from native delicacies to handcrafted goods, all reflecting the hard work and pride of every Antiqueños.
Watching the reenactment of the historic landing of the Bornean datus made their history feel alive, reminding me of the roots that shaped Antique long before modern times. The beauty continued with the fluvial parade, where decorated boats sailed gracefully, honoring our coastal heritage and connection to the sea. As night fell, the torch parade lit up the streets, symbolizing unity and the enduring spirit passed down through generations.
I was also deeply amazed by the intricate Antiqueño textiles, each weave telling a story of tradition, skill, and cultural identity. My first Binirayan experience was more than what I expected. it was like traveling back to history, culture, and how realizing how deeper each antiqueños holds back to their roots.
